The World is Beautiful

Post by Baradakas »

This topic is for the mention of all things beatific, things that brighten our everyday lives and make this a good world to live in.

Please NO NEGATIVE THOUGHTS ALLOWED.

I'd be happy to start, with a quote.

"Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has many- not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some."- Charles Dickens
"Fortunate circumstances do not equate to high ideals."

"Mostly muffins sir."- My answer in response to the question posed by the officer, "Son, do you have anything on you I should know about?"

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

For me, music is the most important thing in my life; I'm happiest when I'm listening to it or making it.

Music is the door to my soul, and without it I don't know what I'd be. Music is wonderful.

Aah, so many things that make everything worthwhile.

Love.
Beauty.
Interesting conversation with intelligent people.

Blessings are everywhere, if we just take the time to look for them.

Love is a blessing, in all its forms, and for me, to act in the service of pure love is a great joy

Go someplace far away from the city and the lights, and just look up at the night sky. It is so easy to get lost in the vast infinity of it all. It almost makes me wish that it was still a mystery.

I believe life is what you make it. If I want to be sad the world seems ugly and evil. If I want to be happy the world is a beautiful place full of goodwill and loving people. It is more simple then the clapper light. That shows me that people shouldn't be unhappy and that they should love life. People who are unhappy bring it upon themselves, and the same followes for the happy people.
My right hand is lightning and my left is thunder.
My eyes are flame.
My heart is ashes.
Look upon me and tremble.

I have no idea who actually wrote the song "Nature Boy," or even if they came up with this bit of it, (so I can't give proper credit for this quote) but I think it's very true, and very uplifiting.

"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love,
And be loved in return."

So I thank God for love, for those I love, and for those who love me...where would anyone be without love?

Iryssa...that is a really wonderful quote. My mind's slipping right now, and I know I heard that repeated a lot, maybe in a movie or a book or a poem, but not in that song. Can anyone help me out?

Well...it was in Moulin Rouge a lot...that's all I can think of right now...but I just know that it's been around since before even Nat King Cole's version of the song...burn me if I can remember the other places I've heard it...

That reminds me of Annie Dillard. In *something* at Tinker Creek she said that she used to hide pennies as a child so that it would be a gift from the universe to whoever found it and that the world is full of pennies. We just have to look for them.

Now that song's stuck in my head...from the part when when they just had some Absinthe with the whole green fairy thing..."freedom, beauty truth and love (the hills are alive with the sound of music)..." *grin* that part was...trippy
Maybe I should watch that movie tonight...

Happy thought: I have a job interview monday! yay! *grin* let's hear it for hopes fulfilled! ;)

According to plato, Truth and Good are Beauty. And Beauty is True and Good. And Good is Beautiful and True. And Truth is both Good and Beautifl. By Definition. hehehe...
