The Pagans knew all along!!!!

The Pagans knew all along!!!!
Aparently the Pagans (not just them but other religions but they are big in it) were right about a few things in thier beliefs and holidays. They just had the wrong names for them. I found this and it seems quite interesting.
THE MYTH OF THE RESURRECTION:
The resurrection is a common theme found in numerous completely different religions throughout the world. Symbolic of a descent to the underworld and a later return. Ishtar's/Inanna's descent and return (she was resurrected from the dead), Osiris, Siva's death and resurrection, Persephone's descent into the underworld and return, the list goes on and on and is based upon the seasons. The dark half, dead part of the year (winter) and the light half, growing season of the year (summer). This theme has been repeated over and over again in nearly every religion preceding xianity. Xianity is a very new religion in comparison to other religions it stole from that predated it by thousands of years.
THE NUMEROUS TRINITIES:
Anu, Enlil and Ea- the xtian church stole their "God the Father," "God the Son" from this one.
Bel-Saturn, Jupiter-Bel, and Baal-Chom.
Brahma, Vishnu and Siva
Mithra, Varuna and Indra
Jupiter, Juno and Minerva
Osiris, Isis, and Horus
Three-bodied goddess Hecate
Three-headed Scylla
Triune divinities of the Cabiri.
Three-headed Dog, Cerberus
Judaism, xianity and Islam (the three religions of monotheism)
Taoism: the trinity San Qing (Three Pure Gods). Yu Qing (Jade Pure) Shang Qing (Upper Pure) and Tai Qing (Great Pure)
Monju Bosatsu, Fugen Bosatsu and the historical Buddha called the "Shaka Trinity" (SHAKA SANZON)
Ka ( Spirit or Ether), Ba ( Body), and the Ankh (Immortality)
Tamas (Stability) Sattwa (orderliness) Rajas (Restlessness) from the "Guna" Sanskrit translation
Artemis, Aphrodite and Hecate
Kore, Persephone and Demeter
Shen (Spirit), C'hi (Vitality) and Ching (Essence) the three treasures of Taoist Wai Tai (internal alchemy)
Alpha, Omega and Iota
The Devil's Trident
The list can go on and on and on and on. This starts to get to be a joke. Of course, we can't forget the father, the son and the "holy ghost."
The nazarene's crucifixion/execution is a repeat- nothing new.
Other Gods who were crucified or executed that predated this fictitious character are as follows:
Krishna of India, 1200 BCE
Buddha, 600 BCE. There is also a striking similarity here- the nazarene was hung from a tree (Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree." I Peter 2:24 "24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.") Buddha sat beneath a tree and experienced a rebirth, kind of ressurection.
Not to get off the subject of the execution here, but "The Latin cross was not a part of xianity until the 7th century and not fully acknowledged until the 9th century. Primitive churches preferred to represent the nazarene with the lamb. The lamb, by the way is another stolen symbol. The sacrificial lamb of Easter is represented by the sign of Aries the Ram." (which begins on March 21st of every year). The Lamb was also carried by Hermes and Osiris." In addition, Odin, Krishna, Marsyas, Dodonian and Zeus also hung from trees. Set was “crucified” on a “cross” known as a furka -From the book "The Woman's Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects" by Barbara G. Walker, Page 54.
Tammuz of Syria, 1160 BCE
Wittoba of the Telingonese, 552 BCE
Iao of Nepal, 622 BCE Iao is often spelt "Jao" sound familiar? This is the root of the hebrew god "Jehova."
Hesus of the Celtic Druids, 834 BCE. Note the similarity of "Hesus" with "Jesus."
Quetzacoatl of Mexico 587 BCE
Quirinus of Rome 506 BCE
Prometheus 547 BCE "In the account of the crucifixion of Prometheus of Caucasus, as furnished by Seneca, Hesiod and other writers, it is stated that he was nailed to an upright beam of timber to which were affixed extended arms of wood, and that this cross was situated near the Caspian Straits."
Thulis of Egypt, 1700 BCE
Indra of Tibet, 725 BCE
Alcestos of Euripedes, 600 BCE
Atys of Phrygia, 1170 BCE
Crite of Chaldea, 1200 BCE
Bali of Orissa, 725 BCE
Mithra of Persia, 600 BCE
The above list was taken from the book "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors" by Kersey Graves, Sixth Edition- 1960
XTIAN HOLIDAYS HAVE BEEN STOLEN AS WELL. ALL COINCIDE WITH PAGAN HOLIDAYS AND NOTED TIMES OF THE YEAR.
"Easter" was stolen from Astaroth. Originally known as "Ashtar." This holiday coincides with the Vernal Equinox of spring when day and night are of equal length. Known as "Eastre" to the Anglo-Saxons. As the Goddess of fertility, she was associated with rabbits and eggs. The xtians stole this holiday and twisted its meaning. Other names include: Easter Eastre Eos Eostre Ester Estrus (Estrus is when an animal goes into heat; mating season) Oestrus Oistros and Ostara. Again, the "Lamb of God" was stolen from the Zodiac sign of Aries the Ram which occurs every spring.
December 25th, xmas is getting to be a joke. Coinciding with the Winter Solstice and the Yule season, the shortest day of the year, the birthdate of the Persian God Mithra, the Roman Holiday of Saturnalis. The tree, decorations, baking, gifts and celebrating have NOTHING to do with the nazarene. These are carry-overs from Pagan celebrations. Here is an informative link covering the many Pagan Gods associated with and celebrated around or on December 25th
All Saint's Day corresponds with Halloween
Assumption Day coincides with Lammas Day of the Summer Solstice
XTIAN VESTMENTS AND THEIR WITCH/SORCERER PARALLELS:
The Cincture is a parallel to the Witch's Cord or Girdle
The Alb is a Ceremonial Robe
The Bishop's Miter is a copy of the Ancient Egyptian Crowns of the Gods and the Pharaohs
The Crosier represents the sorcerer's blasting rod and bears a strong resemblance to the Ancient Egyptian Crook
THE XTIAN ALTAR IS SET UP NEARLY IDENTICAL WITH A RITUAL ALTER FOR WITCHCRAFT:
The usual xtian mass/service makes use of the following:
The Bell
The Incense burner/Thurible
The Candles
The Host
The Book
The Chalice filled with wine
Oil
Yet, in spite of this, the xtian church murdered enmasse, those accused of being witches, sorcerers and those of Pagan religions.
THE SORRY JOKE OF XTIAN SACRAMENTS:
With xtian sacraments, it is obvious they are bogus. One can come and go as one pleases and they have no meaning. Of course this stands to reason as they were all stolen. Some blatant examples:
Baptism with water
Confession- stolen from the Papyrus of the Royal Mother Nezemt
The Communion Host
During a mass or church service, the priest or minister recites the line of "Eat my body and drink my blood" for the blessing of the communion host/eucharist. This is a carry-over from sacrificial rites. The nazarene was a human sacrifice as well, so it is no suprise they would want to "eat his body and drink his blood." This is what the host and the wine represent- AGAIN- stolen from early Pagan rites. Many Pagan religions today, use small cakes, similar to the host in their rites.
"Holy Spirit"
This one took on a life of its own:
The "holy spirit" supposedly descended upon the apostles of the nazarene in tongues of fire:
Acts 2:2-4
2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
STOLEN from
"Ushnisha" is known as “flame of invisible light” sat upon the head of the Buddha or Buddhist holy man indicating divine intelligence.
The Rosary was stolen from Tibetan Mala Beads, used for meditation. The repetition of the "hail marys" and the "our fathers" are stolen from the East Asian Mantras. A Mantra is a word repeated over and over to focus the mind in meditation. "Ohm" is the most common. The robotic repetitious prayers recited over and over again in xtian churches are also corrupted imitations of mantras.
The church steeple is a copy of the Egyptian Obelisk, the only difference is the crucifix on top. We are all familiar with the Egyptian obelisk, such as "Cleopatra's Needle." This has a lot in common with the "Maypole." The "Maypole" was the symbol for the May King's phallus (erect penis). This is a symbol of fertility. On the eve of Beltane (April 30th), celebrants danced around the maypole. The original Egyptian obelisks were symbols of the phallus. They represented the erect organ of the earth God "Geb" as he lay on the ground trying to reach up to unite himself with the Goddess "Neith/Nut" of the overarching sky. Unbeknownst to most xians, their church steeple is a symbolic erect penis with a cross on top.
"Amen" when said at the end of xtian prayers was STOLEN as well. "Amen" was stolen from the Egyptian "Amon." "Amon RA."
The HALO was stolen from Hindu Gods and the Buddha. Both religions predated christianity by centuries.
Xtians venerating relics, ringing bells and burning incense are unwittingly imitating Hindu rituals that were established many centuries before judeo/christianity.
The praying hands were stolen as well. They are an ancient Yogic Mudra. There are statues of the Hindu Gods and also the Buddha with the praying hands known as the "NAMASTE MUDRA." The folded hands as well, a variation, is yet another mudra that was stolen. Mudras are used in meditation to connect the minor chakra circuits in the hands and fingers. Many Yoga asanas have these as well. Check any on-line images of Hatha Yoga postures. Yoga predates xianity. Note the halo on the image of the Buddha below as well.
The Saints took the place of the Old Gods in the Catholic religion as the pope used this replacement method for converting polytheists to monotheism. Ancient Pagan Temples were destroyed and razed by xtians and churches were built over these. Many of these temples were built on Ley Lines, especially in Europe. This was at first an attempt to encourage Pagan peoples to attend xtian masses, but when this did not work, other methods such as torture and mass murder soon followed.
I will let you form your own opions about this.

Although it is well established that many, many pagan rituals and concepts were incorporated into christianity, there is no guarantee that they (the pagans) were any more right than the christians.
As we've mentioned in other threads, it was probably no more than a clever marketing ploy to incorporate them, as an aid to converting the pagans from existing religions.
All religions bear many themes and concepts in common. Through the centuries, religion (of all kinds) has proved very adept at assimilating and disseminating various cultures.
This has been of utmost importance in maintaining "relevance" in whatever society it finds itself.

One other important note: you keep stating these incorporations were implemented by the "xtian church", when it was in fact the Roman Catholic Church, which by comparison to the Bible is not truly a christian church, but a neo-pagan church, (only my opinion, but secular history confirms this, as you have shown), that claims a so-called soveriegnty over all other churches.
As to the Ressurection bit, it is a common theme related to man's powerlessness over death, the ultimate equalizer. It is not theleast bit surprising that we associate divinity with power over death.
I do not argue in the least that your information is correct, I in fact consider only the ancient Jewish holidays true holidays, and the paganism handed down by the Catholic church to be prophesied by certain books in the New testament.
Otherwise, you have made some interesting points, most of which are entirely accurate. Keep in mind that the new christian leadership, i.e. Simon Magus, was a firm believer of ecumenism, and used the beliefs of pagans against them to convert them. (Simon Magus is also recognized as the ultimate corrupter of christianity) Crucifixion wasnt "stolen", it was simply a common method of execution at the time.
Which was stolen from??? Please list an example.
Which relates to yet another common misconception most christians make. Nowhere in the Bible does it state Jesus went to Hell when he died!!! He was asleep, as all dead people are, until the Millennia. So in this statement, you are in fact quoting Catholic dogma, not the Bible.
As for the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, this is yet another Catholic creation. The Bible never names the holy spirit as being anything but a conduit to God Himself.
Perhaps I am only nitpicking this because Catholicism and Christianity are about as alike as a camel and a horse. My personal orthodoxy considers all your statements accurate, and all of these fallacies/corruptions stem from the Roman Catholic Church, and early ecumenism. *EDITED FOR CONTENT* I find your constant use of "x-tian" in this topic slightly misinformitive. The only reason you find so many similarities here is because of all the work Catholicism has done to corrupt the true teachings of Jesus to resemble in one way or another, every other ancient religion that exists.
Should anyone find my post insulting or offensive, I am happy to offer my apology, but before you post about it, do some research, and you'll find that everything I have said about Catholicism is entirely accurate. To be offended about the truth, is only another form of self-denial, after all.

Sorry, that is incorrect. The halo comes from Sol Invictus, a pagan sun-god prevalent in ancient Roman circles (which stole it from buddhism), a religion than quickly began to wane in the light of christianity. Constantine, a devout sun worshipper, incorporated it into the christian mythos shortly after "converting" to christianity. The HALO was stolen from Hindu Gods and the Buddha. Well, I suppose if you compare modern Christianity to Catholicism at the time of the reformation, you are right. However, if you compare whateverBaradakas wrote:Perhaps I am only nitpicking this because Catholicism and Christianity are about as alike as a camel and a horse. Bible based faith you ascribe to modern Catholicism you will find that us Catholics aren’t as bad you may have been lead to believe.
In my mind, modern protestant faiths are extremely prone to comparing themselves to the medieval/ renaissance Church. I went to one of my friends churches one Sunday morning (of an evangelical Christian sect) and was absolutely appalled by the misconceptions people have about Catholics. (the service was entitled "do all religions lead to God"... The answer was no, only us...)
They accused us of praying to the pope, praying to the saints, and holding them as false idols. They accused us of holding Mary as a false Idol. They quoted grievances of the church from 500 years in the past.
Basically, the Roman Catholic church has come a long way from the what you have probably been taught about it. I would also like to point out that it's kind of silly to hold only scripture as the source of faith, seeing as how the New covenant pretty much relegates the old testament to mere history, and the new testament was written long after the establishment of church dogma.
It is extremely easy to look back 500 years to past grievances of the church, which no Catholic will deny. But don't be so quick to think of your own organized faith as infallible, It is my experience that the evangelical protestants, lacking any tradition or dogma, are MUCH more fallible than the modern Catholics.
Also, to use the word abhor can really incite someone's feelings when you are talking about their faith. I would be happy to debate Catholicism with you in a different thread Baradakas.

I think that The Dreaming makes a good point here. History abounds with examples of propaganda-style literature from both Protestant and Catholic sides. Books detailing the supposed abuses and attrocities of the Catholic Church vied for popularity with those saying the same things about the Protestants.
They cheerfully tortured and killed each other for centuries, on the basis that each was the only true religion. And these conflicting theories took a toll on the identities and conceptions of the respective believers.
Purely as an example, my maternal grandfather, in all respects (save one) an educated, erudite and literate man, was such a staunch Catholic that he refused to believe that the Spanish Inquisition had happened.

I ascribe to neither orthodox, however.
As opposed to the Catholic Progressive Revelation you mean? Sorry, but I don't believe the Pope, or any other religious leader has the right to enforce dogma onto the Scriptures.I would also like to point out that it's kind of silly to hold only scripture as the source of faith
Where do you get this information? Most books of the New Testament were written within 40 years of Jesus' death, the oldest, Revelation, was written by John in his last years on the Isle of Patmos, where he was exiled by the "new church leadership" which wished to enforce new beliefs on the christian faith. A leadership which swiftly grew into the Roman Catholic Church, I might add. And contrary to popular belief, the new Testament does not "do away with" the Old. When asked by a young man how to achieve eternal life, Jesus responded, "Follow the Commandments". Jesus often quoted the Ten Commandments, he even used Scripture (Old Testament Scripture) to avoid temptation by Satan himself!! In what way does He do away with them?seeing as how the New covenant pretty much relegates the old testament to mere history, and the new testament was written long after the establishment of church dogma.

There are literally thousands of interpretations of this. No Catholic holds the traditional view that the gospels were written by the people of their namesake. I was taught (I had classes in high school on this subject) that the four Gospels were most likely written by followers of the Gospel's namesakes long after their death. You also have to keep in mind that all of the books of the new testament were written with a political agenda. Revelation was written during a time when the church was being hugely persecuted by the Romans. These people thought the rapture was very close, rather than far away. I had NEVER heard that John wrote revelation (could be wrong, its been a while since sophomore religion class). I was taught that revelation was actually an underground essay of sedition, full of metaphors about how the Romans are really gonna get it when the rapture comes.baradakas wrote:Where do you get this information? Also, unless you follow all of the Jewish laws outlined in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, you do not follow the old covenant. We follow the ten commandments still because Jesus told us too. His words are that of the new covenant. The Old testament is a fascinating and extremely accurate history of an ancient culture, but not much more. There is both wisdom and horror inside of it.
The Bible as we know it was not compiled into on work until Medieval times. The mystique that exists around the bible is mostly a fabrication of the Protestants. Scripture is an excellent source of wisdom, and offers a unique insight into the past, as well as offering the words of Christ (which is IMO the true value of the Bible) but it isn't much beyond that. I am aware of my fallibility, the church is fallibility, and the Bible is fallibility. (and DON'T give me the inevitable Ex Cathedra papal infallibility argument. He only uses that to say stuff like "killing is bad" these days.)

Revelation was written during a time when the church was being hugely persecuted by the Romans.
This persecution happened within the first hundred years of Jesus' crucifixion, though no theologian worth his salt would claim to know the exact dates. This still coincides (more or less) with the time frame i have pinpointed. My knowledge comes from Dr. Roderick C. Meredith, a respected theological historian, as does all my knowledge of Catholicism. However, I do admit that the exact dates are impossible to pinpoint, yet most of the New Test. books coincide with the appearance of Simon Magus and the beginnings of Roman persecution which both happened between 60 AD and 100 AD, also about the time that John was exiled to Patmos. Still, as neither you nor I were there to confirm this, it still leaves this open to argument.

Humm... well I was catholic until I was about 17, and now I have my own unique faith that I built for myself out of the truth that I've found....but umm.... could we keep in mind that Catholicism and Christianity were synonyms for about 15 hundred years, before we start throwing around the idea that catholics are un christian? To anyone outside of christianity, it's more like a comparison between Pepsi and coca cola than a camel and a horse... (With my beliefs being the Royal Crown soda of all religions. Heheh. Because RC cola is the bomb)
Also, before you start saying that no one, the pope or anyone else can alter or extend the teachings of god, doesn't that kind of indicate that whatever divine force that inspired the apostles as they acted in..well...the book of Acts, is dead and gone from the world? Because Jesus had already left the picture physically. The church was still growing and changing at that point, baptism was only beginning as a serious trend, even individual churches were only beginning to form.
At what point do you 'bring the hammer down' and say that official, God Sanctioned interpretations of christianity stopped getting released? After what year, month and day was the belief system set?
We can talk about literal interpretations of the bible as opposed to the traditional interpretations of the catholics....
When you read a sentance, any sentance, you get input in the form of a language. The brain then interprets that data based on previous experience with the language. Some sentances would have a common literal interpretation, like "I am in Las Vegas today" but the bible is anything but simple....
I don't stand with the catholics, because they impose THEIR interpretation on the followers... or rather, that is what is required of a follower to be catholic, I suppose they don't really impose it so much as demand its acceptence... but the so called literal interpretations are simply a unique interpretation with a different predisposition....
just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Really, what you have to believe to be Catholic isn't that rough. We recite it all the time. It was written during the Catholic counter-reformation when this idea of setting beliefs in stone began. Lemme see if I can remember it...
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
I cheated. I had to memorize this a long time ago but I forgot. Nothing too hard in here huh? In fact, nothing that any protestant wouldn't agree with. This is IT. This is what you MUST believe to be Catholic.

Ummm, I'm not a protestant, in fact I observe a far older styling of faith. I observe all Old Testament teachings and holidays, and I follow the New Testament, neither more or less important than the other. The Scripture is my only truth, and progressive movement is seen as blasphemy....
I respect that everyone has their own "version" and I will not claim that mine is more valid than any others. However, over the years I found that every denomination argued over progressive "truth", but I could not find one teacher of the faith who could argue the truth of the Scriptures, so they have become my truth.

On paper, that's true, Dreaming...it's what happens in practice that Protestants disagree with...practically deifying Mary, for example...*sigh* but I've already said what I think about doctrinal differences in the "Christians vs. Christians" thread. The Dreaming wrote: In fact, nothing that any protestant wouldn't agree with.
I think we're digressing into that topic again, actually...anyone who hasn't read the "Christians vs. Christians" thread and is interested in what's being talked aobu tright now, I recommend you read it...
Sheol wrote:Xianity is a very new religion in comparison to other religions it stole from that predated it by thousands of years.
While Christianity is very young, you must remember that Judaism (which is what Christianity comes from...same God, we just believe that the Messiah has come, not will come) is not.
Also, Christianity is unique in its salvation doctrine...you don't need to earn your way to heaven, it is a gift for any willing to accept it.
I also agree with Baradakas, Sheol...be careful you do not assume that every church that calls themselves a "Christian church" has the same doctrines as the others who put forward that same claim...I would also recommend you research what the Bible actually says, instead of just what certain churches say; we claim our God is infallible, not that WE are infallible.

Great point Iryssa, Judaism in fact predates nearly ALL religions. It was being observed when the Ancient Egyptians were first beginning to deify the sun, also before the eastern asians went into seclusion, (they are mentioned in Old Testament scripture, and had great respect for the God of the Jews). Christianity is truly an offshoot of Judaism, though it has been slowly warped over the centuries, it's origination stems from Israelite tradition.

Very true. As does the Islamic religion. Followers of all these faiths, christianity, judaism and islam, were originally referred to as "People of the Book" because of the fact that they all hold the Old Testament in common.Baradakas wrote:...it's origination stems from Israelite tradition.
Religion is as incestuous as any other philosophy or ideology. Ideas that appeal are taken, brought into line and used as though they were always a part of it. Nobody has a monopoly on the good (or appealing) ideas.

How did this start? Hmmm, good question. I believe it was a post that I originally found to be slightly inflammatory to christians, as well as slightly lacking in veracity. I'll quote some of the lines that forced a response from me, so we can all reflect on how this started, and in the meantime, we can all note some phrases we might not want to use, as they may prompt a zealous response....
I apologize if any of you, (especially Catholics) found any of my posts offensive. However, I was already offended enough, and in my anger i may have offered too much of my opinion about Catholic dogma, when I try to stay neutral and objective.

The term "fictitious" was not appreciated....The list can go on and on and on and on. This starts to get to be a joke. Of course, we can't forget the father, the son and the "holy ghost."
The nazarene's crucifixion/execution is a repeat- nothing new.
Other Gods who were crucified or executed that predated this fictitious character are as follows:
If anyone has questions as to how this is offensive please pm me.THE SORRY JOKE OF XTIAN SACRAMENTS:
This is not only a blatantly false reference, but need I remind members of the young age requirement, and the terms we all agreed to when we joined?Unbeknownst to most xians, their church steeple is a symbolic erect penis with a cross on top.
Unfortunately, the post was not written with a completely objective view, all of its facts (true or otherwise) were meant to undermine christian views and beliefs. I then in turn offered a few corrections, but quite honestly kept my irritation to myself. Quite a few of the facts of the post were correct, and i took no offense to those, as I do not celebrate xmas, halloween or Easter, as they are based on pagan practices. many of the other "facts" were about the Catholic Church, and I believe that is where all of this started....I will let you form your own opions about this.
I apologize if any of you, (especially Catholics) found any of my posts offensive. However, I was already offended enough, and in my anger i may have offered too much of my opinion about Catholic dogma, when I try to stay neutral and objective.
