Anele's ********* *Spoilers*

Post by brinn18 »

Spoiler
Any ideas on who Anele's third possesor could be?

We know it has to be someone powerful.
(Both Covenant and Lord Foul are powerful, and when the third possesor takes control Linden can feel the power in him)
(When he runs into the Viles(or is it Demondim, I cant remember) he seems to be full of a firey power)
My guess if Kastensen. He is an elohim(so powerful).
If you remember Findails story Kastensen was turned into a construct to stop some sort of Firey crack in the earth, which kind of ties into the power that we see when Anele is taken.
Any other thoughts?

Spoiler
Yeah i think it's Kastenessen, so far all hints point to him trapping some fiery bane in the north.... so I guess that would be it.

That was my thought as well. I think we have discussed this elsewhere...

This was my first impression, except that it seems a bit too obvious. After all,
Spoiler
Kastenessen, bound against his will to bind the flaming Skurj, and now unbound, but appearing as a flaming, possessive entity.
Like I say, it just seems a bit too obvious. Remember, we never encountered a sandgorgon until book 2 of chronicle 2. Who'da'thunk Nom would play the instrumental role he did?

Not to be *too* picky Briny, but Sandgorgon's were (once) mentioned in The Illearth War. At some point, Amok mentions having ridden one.

Must have been a helluva ride!

:LOLS:

Probably. :P

So.... I think it is Kastenessen as well... but why are the Demondim taking orders from him? :?

Also mentioned (I think) in LFB where Foamfollower tells Covenant the history of the Unhomed, and includes the fact some of them remained with the Bhrathair to help them against the Sandgorgons.

Why would Kastenessen, an Elohim made to become something to *contain* fire/heat, be shown as a fiery being when he possesses Anele?
You don't use fire to contain fire.
He would be more like a....non-stick cooking pan maybe. :P

Seriously though, put me down for thinking it's *not* Kastenessen.

We'll agree to disagree on the sacrilege of your nickname :) but agree that it's not Kassy.

Ha ha!
Don't like it huh?
or just jealous?

I'm just happy I was able to blend my two favorites together in some way.

Though the name itself puts me into the weaker New Lords camp.
I wonder if there were any other "Old" High Lords?
Or was it always a father son handoff so there was only 4?

IDHTBIFOM but I'll have to check it out.

Did anyone check his pants? Could be playing pocket pool with a midget Croyel.

"That is another long story," the Giant returned and repeated, "What is your need?"
But Atiaran insisted dully, "Your name."
Again a gleam sprang from under the Giant's massive brows. "There is power in names."

I think Kastenessen is the obvious bet. Personally I believe it has something to do with the Skurj. (ominous, unexplained beings) maybe not
Read Below.

Ominous;(from word refrence.com)

threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments; "a baleful look"; "forbidding thunderclouds"; "his tone became menacing"; "ominous rumblings of discontent"; " "a sinister smile"; "his threatening behavior";

Although this may not be relevant to SRD's meaning of the word Skurj maybe it relates? There is some relativity here.

\Scourge\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Scourged}; p. pr. & vb.
n. [From {Scourge.

1. Hence, a means of inflicting punishment, vengeance, or
suffering; an infliction of affliction; a punishment.

2. To punish with severity; to chastise; to afflict, as for
sins or faults, and with the purpose of correction.

3. To harass or afflict severely.

The last two are intresting if in fact he is possed by Skurj and the words corellate. If you look it up, the pronunciation of scourge is listed as (skurj) hmmm. :goodnevil:

Given SRDs notorious wordplay, I'm certain that's exactly what it means (the last two definitions). Plus, they fit into his personal cosmology.

Exactly what I was thinking. Now if he was possesed and whispering sweet nothings, and wanted to frolic through the aliantha I would have been confused, but reading in between the lines like that, I would suggest the Skurj.

To seal the Skurj that have some firey power perhaps? The skurj are relased now, they more than likely are the fire.
In all mysterys misdirection is always a factor. The obvious may not be what you think. Sometimes it is, but I dont think so in this case.

Different Anele question:

Why did he think the Ceasure was after him specifically on Kevin's Watch?

See the very top of page 96 (US edition) "They" are the Haruchai but "It" is the Caesure.

"They can be tricked"
"But it is not tricked. It knows where Anele is. It pursues him"

What do you people make of a caesare that actively pursues Anele?
Why was it pursuing him and why did it stop?
Was it just Anele being crazy?
He's difficult to understand sometimes but has he ever said anything incorrect as of yet?
I don't know what to think!

we Know that Esmer has called at least one ceasure. I didn't find much love from esmer regarding Anele, maybe it's him who is after Anele?

I thought the ceasures pursued him becase he was very Earthpower-ful and they were attracted to that. Did someone not say that in the book?
