Did Lanfear really love Lewis Therin?

Did Lanfear really love Lewis Therin?

Post by Revan »

I always wondered this... she seemed pretty taken by him... I thought that she wouldn't, or couldn't love someone. But there was that anguish she had on her face when Rand told her he could never love her... I think there was some part of her that did love him. What do you think? :P

I think that she probably did. Nothing protects us from the dangers of love, not even being "evil".

And IIRC, part of the reason she "turned" was jealousy over Ilyena.

Yes, I felt kinda sorry for her when she found out that Rand had been with someone else...

Although it's a little telling of her mental state that she blames someone Lews Therin didn't meet until 50 years later for their break-up.

I'd say she loved him as much as she was capable of loving someone, but maybe not for who he was but for the power he represented. You know, she's always been into this whole rule the world-thing... ;)

heh, I think in some ways you are right... but think, if Rand had been captured by the Aes Sedai while she was still alive, I think that she would have her best to free him. I think she did care about him in some ways.

She would probably do her best to free him, yes, but not because she's this wonderful person... Rather because she thinks he belongs to her. Which works just peachy fine with what I wrote earlier.
IMO there's no way in *bleep* she cares about Rand as a person, since she doesn't know him at all for one thing, she's only interested in him because he's LTT reincarnated.
