Am I The Only One Who Notices'...

Post by Revan »

That the ending's rule? I mean for some reason, I find myself going through all the dragged out crap of the book, to get to an amazing ending. Which tends to be every book... It's weird, the ending are never dragged out with crap you don't want to read or you already know, and they are action packed. Which is cool too... It's quite annoying knowing you have to go through all 900pages of pure crap to get to the good stuff...

I agree on both counts...I used to love reading the books, even when they got slow, 'cause I was so excited for the ending...but, yeah...now I just read while uttering silent prayers that someday the books will be good again.

Yeah, that was a pretty good ending...knowing that the next book isn't gonna get past it kinda ruined it for me, though...

My favorite ending is the end of The Shadow Rising
Spoiler
The battle, Faile and Perrin getting married...

Bah! That wasn't the ending! :|

Rand and Asmodean fought at the end of book 4.

It's one of the endings. tSR was the first book with a real branching out of storylines, and at that stage, each storyline had its own, definate climax.

Here's what I think. Books 1 thru 5 were awesome all the way thru. Book six was kind of boring until the ending, which was about the best ending of a book I've ever read. Book seven and eight were just boring... I don't remember the endings, so they were probably boring, too. Book nine decent, and the ending ROCKED. But I've heard so many bad things about book ten that I'm not going to read it, which means I'm probably done with the series. Oh well.

I just can't give up now. Not only is there the hope that all will improve, but I can't stop collecting a series before the end. No way am I going to have the prequel, and books 1-10 sitting on my shelf, knowing that they don't end there.

It's a terrible affliction I know, but there's nothing I can do about it. I'll get 11, 12, (assumng that they end there--no guarantees) and any other prequels as well, just so that I have them

*shrugs* Oh well.

I like the ending of Shadow Rising as well. Probably my favorite book of the series, as the series seems to have started taking a turn for the worse after book 4 IMHO.

i completely agree. :D I loved the ending to that book. :) I've reread it a few times.
Taim appeared close to a smile as Rand had ever seen. "Kneel and swear to the Lord Dragon," he said softly, "or you will be knelt."
Amazing! :D :D :D Go Taim!!!

hahaha! :D Me too! 8)

Gotta admit, haven't read a better ending ever... the only one that can compete with the sixth book ending is the nineth book ending... I mean all the Forsaken and Aes Sedai and Ashaman fighting was just amazing, I loved it. :D

Yeah, the ending to book 6 was pretty damn sweet. I still love that line...
Spoiler
Asha'man! Kill!
The action was just so awesome.

RJ probably outdid himself with the ending...maybe that's why books 7-10 sucked, heh.

The ending to book 9 was kinda cool too...but it looses points for the overall crappyness of books 9 and 10, heh.

Plus, for some reason they have to mention what happened at the end of book 9, like, a billion times in book 10. STOP TALKING ABOUT IT ALREADY. RARARARAROAR.-jay

i really cant understand how people can say the books were just total crap...i understand its not everybodys cup of tea, and everybody likes different stuff and has their own opinions, but i just dont see what made them crap...granted the later books are slow in some parts, but..i dunno...i like the fact that he describes everything so detailed...the last few books i read them, not really wanting them to end...

and as far as the 600 page prologues, i usually just skim them, and if theres nothin really exciting or continuing from the last book, i just skip em till the rest of the book is done...
Think on that, and be dismayed

I quite like them myself, the only ones I found really disappointing were 7&10.
