A dark and hungry poster arises
New to this forum.
Read the Chronicles when they 1st came out in the UK. Hardback, from the local public library back in the eighties. What can I say, took them everywhere, read them on the bus going to college, read them eating dinner in college, read them at night, stayed in some nights instead of getting ‘wrecked’ with college friends. Several weeks of intense reading later, it was over. God, I was shattered.
Remember Aldous Huxley and the doors of perception, once those doors are opened you can never go back to the previous state. Well TC did that to me, I remain altered and still in thrall to the Chronicles, even now, 20 years later.
So then a hiatus.
Then the Gap books. 1st one, I thought no big deal. Then ‘thwack’ ‘bam’ ‘boom’. I was well and truly ‘gapped’. The Trumpet, spaceships rotating, deflecting energy bolts, deception, copied personalities, utterly alien aliens, Angus (who didn’t wield white gold but in my view, wielded so much more), gods arising, men that were gods, who sought to be puppet masters, who ‘knew better’, I blab, I blab. Those books truly rocked, a roller coaster ride that made my palms sweat and my dreams rumble.
So now, a shock roam through Amazon, a new TC book, a frisson of excitement as the book is here.
Back in the land and all is well.
My own personall Illearth war has a truce, read on, read on.

Nice to be made welcome.
My ego tells me to say more about my reading habits.
Loved the Nights Dawn trilogy by Peter Hamilton, like the culture novels of Banks, always in awe of the rings, but after the 4 hour bum numbing session of the return of the king, I am now bored of the rings.
Loving the runes.
Great site by the way.

I dread to think of watching the whole lot in one session, must be a 12 hour marathon. Will save that for my own 3rd age...
When my elves have left...
That Liv tyler and aragorn sure did make a cute couple though.

I have to say (and I am not joking in any way) that I saw far more chemistry between Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom than I did between Mortensen and Liv Tyler.
And they wonder where all those slash fics come from.

Why do I get the feeling next time I watch the film I will be keeping my eyes out for this more than the storyline!!
And welcome nocturne, hope you enjoy your time here

I really like the quote you're using by the way

I will have to go into my memory editing suite to get rid of that image
Time heals all things.
The race of the hetrosexual man is diminishing, the blood line thins, we are but spirits now, mere legend, tales that are told around the campfire...we diminish and go to the west (well, manchester actually
)
Nocturne, standing proud, standing face to face with a gorgeous woman and saying 'oh yeah baby, lets smooch'.
Nocturne...caught betwixt chaos and order and holder of forbidden knowledge.

Meh. I see what I see.
And I see... questionable acting ability. Anyway, welcome! Or have I said that before?

Hey Nocturne!
Please accept a welcome from me as well!
I have terrifically enjoyed reading all that you have written above, and I happily anticipate reading anything else you have to say!
PS. And England - The Wounded Land - Yes, indeed! - And we shall bring her back to health!!
Best.
Stephen.

Hale Hearty fellow, Insanity falls, nice name.
Ahh England insperation for the Shire, source of eldritch dreams and forgotten realms, home to avalon and Lyonnesse. Where King Arthur lies buried, waiting on our darkest hour to come and save us (about now would be a good time).
This sceptered isle, this england.
I see you have a Dalek as your haven tar, nice, exterminate some people with your deadly plunger for me... the new series starts soon, wonder what it will be like?
Still England has the power that preserves and yes together, people of good earth sense shall rid the rainbaine from our cursed land.
Martin Luther King once said 'I have a dream' well I say it too, a reborn land, full of hope and mysticism.
All the best to you as well.
