Nightfall (a poem)

Post by jelerak »

Hello all. This is my first contribution to this forum.

I hope that you enjoy this one.

Nightfall,
The evening drawing near...
As the last rays of sunlight
give way to dreams of fear.
Nightfall,
When children go to bed.
And pray to their gods
that they will not wake up dead.
Nightfall,
When I awaken to my task.
To steal away your souls,
with darkness as my mask.
Nightfall,
Sleep you well tonight,
because I stalk as others dream,
preying on their fright.
Nightfall,
From nightmares I arise.
Your fears now before you,
none can hear your cries.
Nightfall,
When I hunt anew.
Sleep you well tonight,
for next it may be you.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.
