I'm a complete geek

Post by kvickie »

okay, let's see if anyone is a bigger geek than me...

My wedding ring (big diamond, etc.) was in need of repair, so I decided to get a small, nondescript ring to wear to work. Of course, what could I possibly choose- I could have gotten yellow gold, or even platinum, but what do YOU think I picked!!!

Yes, of course, white gold.

It may have had something to do with the fact that I was re-reading the chronicles in anticipation of Runes, but I think I would have done it anyway. :D

But have you ever clenched your white gold ring(s) in your fist and yelled "Melenkurion Abatha!" ???? (just in case?)

I am curious... :P

Cate and I both own white gold rings bought solely because of the Chronicles and this site. We win the geek race :P

My high school ring I had made (the ONLY nice thing I've ever owned... never even had a wedding ring) was white gold on purpose. Heck, I did my junior theme on SRD. I don't own gold white or otherwise now. My ring was lost years ago in one of the many moves my ex forced on us.

My wedding ring is white. I planned that the first time I read Lord Fouls Bane, though I was only 14!
I also planned to shave with a straight-razor only, but so far I haven't taken that leap!

My high school class ring was white gold. And yes, it was because of the TC Chronicles... <grinning>

I will admit though, that my attempts to force white flame from the ring met with little success....

I don't have a white gold ring. :(

But, I used to have a dog named Foul!

My class ring (still have that thing in a box somewhere) was white gold, and so is my wedding ring, and yes, it's entirely from the Chrons.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Did I mention that we both had Chrons/KW themed inscriptions? Mine says "Be True". Any takers for head geek?

Well, at least I am not alone in my geekiness... I just hope that SRD doesn't read this and shake his head thinking we are all nuts!

Or do you think he finds it flattering?

I vote for nuts. Alas, I have no ring, wedding, class or otherwise... but if I ever get one, it will be white gold. :D Have had that in the back of my mind since I finished the First Chrons.
