Got stuck on Metroid Prime 2 because that #($@#*(@ Chykka boss pwns me, so I haven't even touched it for at least a month.
Most of the time, I've been playing a lot of old Doom and Doom 2 levels. The game is easily ten years old, but it's still fun to run around blasting monsters and there are a lot of really well-done levels out there that keep it from getting stale.
I also found a really nice front-end for running Doom in Windows that renders the graphics in some kind of OpenGL mode, which really improves them a lot and has almost no pixelation. There's also some pretty nifty glow effects around torches, fireballs, etc. as well as impressive blood splatters when you kill certain monsters.

it amazing hav just lost all my money tho - auto managing cities create far too many crap units!!!
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

Heh....funnily enough, I decided to sit down and take another shot at MP2 the other day while the wife and baby were both napping. Gotta get my gaming time in while I can, y'know.
Amazingly, I stomped the crap out of the boss my first try. Guess all that time mis-spent playing Doom must have honed my l33t skillz or something. Of course, now its only a matter of time before I come back whining about the next boss that kicked my ass....

Well, after much ado, I finally got to playing Halo. It was incompatible with my laptop video card, so I had to spend hours compressing it, transferring it onto the PC, and extracting it again, heh. Played the first level on easy mode, but I anticipate a change to normal mode soon (it was a little easier than even I prefer). I think I'll be playing this for the next five weeks (that is, until I go back to uni and can't run it any more).
Five weeks off for Easter? Wow, Hallam only ever gave us two.Murrin wrote:Well, after much ado, I finally got to playing Halo. Are you planning to play online? I'm playing quite a bit at the moment, although I'll be offline when I go home for the bank holiday weekend. I use a few different screen names, but most commonly Rho. I wonder if we've got enough Halo players to have a KW Halo Tournament?
Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.

Well, my connection is dodgy, my game is pirate, and I'm not very good, but I might give it a try, if indeed it allows me to play online at all.Nav wrote:Five weeks off for Easter? Edit: My game isn't the right version, and I can't update because the updater can tell it's a no-CD patch.

Well, with everybody (Darth, Cj? Everybody? You know what I mean
) going on about it, and coming across it in the "bargain bin" at a local shop, I bought myself KOTOR I while on holiday.
Gotta say it deserved all your praise, thoroughly enjoyed it, and 96 hours of my holiday were spent playing it, much to the disgust of the GF.
I wanted to ask though, how different is the game if you select different options? I played exclusively on the Light side, and managed to complete all but two or three "quests". (The damn racing ones--I suck at that.
)
But if you choose the other way, what happens? I tried, but I've conditioned myself so well that it was really difficult making the dark side choices.
First I planned on starting a new game, and playing only the dark side, but I just didn't feel like going through it all again, so then I restored one just before you choose your Jedi class, and went off and killed Juhani, but I really didn't like doing it, and gave up.
Still, maybe I'll do better if I leave it for a couple of months before I try again. Now I just have to wait to get a cheap copy of the sequel damn you!
Seriously, thanks for the recommendation. Definitely deserved.

After I completed my "light" game, I did the whole thing again from scratch, being "dark". Most of the tasks don't vary, it's just fun seeing some of the reactions and things, and being rude to Bastila
And making people go away using Force Persuade is amusing... The main difference in terms of events comes in the temple:

Spoiler
Upon confronting Bastila on the roof, you can say something like "Now you see the power of the true Dark Lord!", in which case Jolee will try to kill you. The bits before and after fighting through the Star Forge are very different, and enjoyable.

"Bastila" always sounded like some sort of obscure foreign sandwich spread, to me.
But in any case, I just played through KOTOR II a 2nd time. I made The-Nar-Shadaa-Chick, Atton, and Handmaiden Jedis. O.o
