Just finished Robert Charles Wilson's - Blind Lake. I love how he shows how huge events impact on the lives of ordinary people.

Now reading Robert J. Sawyer's - MindScan.

Finished The Darkness That Comes Before. I gotta say, I liked it a lot. It reminded me of both Martin and Zindell - better than the former, not quite as good as the latter.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Decided to read Spiral before starting The Scar, since it's so short. While I immediately dislike the americanisation of the writing by the translator ("guy", "RSVP'd", etc), I am actually finding the scary scenes scary this time, which I didn't find with Ring.

I'm presently reading Neal Stephenson's THE SYSTEM OF THE WORLD. I have to say that I'm really enjoying THE BAROQUE CYCLE. Quite an achievement, in many respects!

About to start ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT by Mercedes Lackey and Roberta Gellis. I loved THIS SCEPTER'D ISLE, which came before it, and Gellis is working on the third in the series now. :D This is delightful historical fantasy, a union of the Elven world and Tudor England in a highly colorful, warmhearted adventure.

Just recently read Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. Of all his books, it was his personal favourite, and now I understand why. Strongly recommended.

About 2/3 of the way through China Mieville's The Scar at the moment. After that, I'll probably be reading Iron Council and/or Gardens of the Moon.

Still busy with Runes, but I just thought I'd mention to Danlo that Triton just didn't do it for me.

I enjoyed the whole "metalogic" concept, and thought that there was far too little of the board game they played, but the actual story just didn't grab my attention. Oh well, will try The Fall of the Towers soon. ;)

Finally got time to concentrate on ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT, and read 250 pages without stopping. Between fascination with the characters and an irresistible momentum, it doesn't allow for stops. I finally nodded off from exhaustion.

Avatar, if you want Delany, read his big award winner, BABEL-17. Fabulous stuff, both visually and intellectually.
