I'm new to the forum, but I might be convinced to go to something in London or the Southeast (Brighton?).

I don't see your presence being a problem, Berenford. Watchers are welcome :)

Right, the festival runs from Tuesday the 2nd to Saturday the 6th of August. Tickets are £7 (£6 on Saturday) and there's a £1 discount if you order your tickets before 22nd July.

Full details can be found here.

What day do we think? Saturday will probably be easiest for people to get time off work/uni/college etc, but it's also the busiest day IIRC. The weekdays also start a bit later, making it possible for those of us who live a bit further away to arrive before the pork scratchings run out.

Kensington Olympia is somewhat awkward to get to, due entirely to the general crappiness of that branch of the District line, but that station is practically on the doorstep of the venue.

This is no joke, but if it is in August, I can make it.

Awesome you lucky bugger. If it had been 9yrs ago, I could have made it easily. Used to live just down the road from Kensington Olympia.

Disaster! Turns out I've booked a holiday from the 3rd of August onwards. I'm going to try and be there the day before I fly on the Tuesday, but it looks like I'm going to fall foul of poor planning.

Grr. Don't worry, I did something similar - booked a holiday that covers the weekend I was meant to be going to a festival.

Keeping to my role as the most indecisive person I know, I've still not completely decided whether I'm in or out. I'll inform you of any major developments in the internal debate (for example when the result of "do I really want to be associated with these wierdos" comes in ;) ), but for the time being, consider me a '?'.

I've just been having a look at the website (and booking my ticket). The Saturday opening hours are 11-7 so I guess if we aim to meet around lunchtime that'd be a good plan.
Thinking about it, we ought to consider a rendezvous point - Olympia's massive, we could end up wandering around for quite a while looking for elusives Runes-bearers. Shall we pick a stand (e.g. Wadsworths)? Or meet at suitable pub first?

I've never been anywhere in that vicinity in my life, so a very conspicuous landmark would be ideal.

Since I am quite near that area would you like me to try and come up with a suitable meeting place or sorts? :)

Sounds good to me - I don't know the area at all so the easier to find, the better. :)

Okie, shall have a look in the next few days and let you know some suggestions. Its may actually be easier meeting slightly more central though and travelling in from there to the venue.
Where will people be coming from though-mainline trains I am assuming?

Nottingham, by train. Driving to London is too scary.

I am now tempted to stay for a week; I just need a place to stay at to save money.

If I have a flat or house by then (hopefully I will) you're welcome to stay.
