But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Queeaqueg, haven't seen you around for a while. Thanks for the reminder, how could I have forgotten Quake? Quake one, with the fantastic Grappling hook mod? That was great in Death Matches. :)

Civilisation
metal gear solid
final fantasy
grand theft auto
diablo
command and conquer (except generals which is awful, because EA have no idea how to make a strategy game)

Civilisation is the only series to get a capital letter. Why? If you don't know then you don't deserve to know.

Ahhhh, Civilization... I've been playing that since I was wee. It taught me the word "Prerequisite"... I thought it was pronounced "para-squite" for so long that I still have trouble saying it correctly

hmmm, 'franchise'...
Well, I love the 'Halo' stuff (Xbox forever!... )
Many of the Star Wars titles are great (Knights of the Old Republic standing out)
The Burnout titles are a blast! #3 is amazing and addictively fun. I can't wait for 'Flat Out'....

I'd say I consistently enjoyed The Jack Nicklaus series of golf games more than any other through the years, from its 8-bit Nintendo version to its final incarnation on PC, Jack Nicklaus 6: Golden Bear Challenge. It was a sad day in gaming for me when Activision announced it wasn't releasing anymore JN titles.

Other favorite franchises:

Quake -- the original introduced me to the concept of fragging monsters in 3D-accelerated glory. Then came the era of Quake II along with the Voodoo2, which will live long in my memory. Quake III didn't excite me like Unreal Tournament did at the time, but I'm definitely anticipating Quake IV.

Need For Speed -- the thrill of evading the cops in exotic cars never gets dull for me. It's a simple formula and it works.

PGA Tour -- I've had huge fun with this line of games from SNES to the current "Tiger Woods" brand on PC.
