Well, my first impression is that I think the costume looks goofy and not very "Man-of-Steel." And does anybody else think the red is just a few shades too dark?

I guess they're trying to differentiate themselves as much as possible from the Christopher Reeve-era costume. I'll always think of his version as the "classic" one, so it's difficult for me to accept a new one. But, hey, as long the movie will be good, that's what matters. I'm looking forward to seeing Superman fly again with the aid of up-to-date visual effects. 8)

well, actually, Singer is trying to emulate the first 2 superman movies as much as possible, as those are the ones that he belives embodied the meaning and purpose of superman in the first place...this movie will more or less take place after the second one, but im not sure how much of the first storyline they will follow, if any...hes not trying to COPY the first flicks, but hes trying to keep the same feel about it...and yeah, the colors arent bright enough, but i think it will work

I think he looks goofy, almost cartoonish. I'm not looking forward to this one.

He does look goofy. Like he has false muscle padding inside his suit.

Believe me, I spend half the year in gyms seeing half naked very fit males. This guy looks very fake to me. :!:

As well as the strange looking muscles and the red being too dark, the logo on his chest is too small.

It's too curved as well - looks like Earth-2 Superman.

nah, thats actually his muscle...thats why he looks so SKINNY...i think itll be ok...just kinda weird, since everyones gonna look so young, when the storyline calls for the characters to look older...and they said that they were going to take a couple ideas from Spiderman, in that the costume is going to be a little darker than the comics to add to the muscle tone of the costume...

Meh. Superman just doesn't do it for me. Corn-fed Iowa farmboys? No, thank you. Give me an urban nightlife type with a darkside any day. When does Batman Begins come out?

I thought I read that they were trying to harken back to the Superman of the '40s with this one.

Remember that he didn't fly back then.
He jumped.
This guys seems to have large muscular legs.
Maybe that's where they are going with him.
I'd like to see them try it but I imagine after Smallville people want to see Big Blue fly for a change.

I just picked up a few DVDs with Superman cartoons (color movie reels?) from the '40's
It was really GOOD.

He had this controled jump.
It was really well done.
All the breaking news was from the radio.

I'd recommned any Superman fan that hasn't seen this to pick it up.
It's cheap too.
Target and Walmart had them for a dollar!

I got all 17 episodes of that. I think I'd rather watch those than this upcoming movie.....I only watched the 70's movies because it was the only choice I had; nowadays, I have choices.

If they're trying to make the costume look darker, they missed. Aside from the red looking more like brown, and the too-small emblem, the blue is way too light! It's almost baby-blue. And putting a little emblem on the belt? It's just an arrow above his, uh, pelvic area, and they slanted the stripes for emphasis!

Oh, and Duchess... He's certainly not a 'corn-fed Iowa farmboy'!

He's a corn-fed Kansas farmboy. :)

Hey! That was me, not Duchess (though I'm honored, of course. But I'm sure she knew he was from Kansas. AND I love the new av).

I always thought it was Iowa! Do you mean to tell me that both Dorothy and Superman are from Kansas?!? Does anyone else find that strange? Btw, Christopher Reeve always wore ruby-boots. Coincidence? And what does it mean that this Brandon Routh person isn't wearing ruby-boots?

That purple/red reminds me of the "evil" superman in one of the movies.

Didn't both Superman and the Wizard of Oz come out in 1939? The same year World War II started. Spooky. Superman had a dog, too.......I smell a conspiracy.

Sorry, Myste. My bad.

And thanks for the compliment. :)

To add to the spookiness of Superman / Oz similarities... Dorothy was whisked through the sky to another world - and SO WAS SUPERMAN! :o

This is creepy...
