As SRD has said that he really has no problem with fanfic, I think it's a great idea.
I think anything that give a TC option (and Gap, Mordant's Need, and SRD's other work) is a step up. I've not come across a site yet that has SRD-based fic. There are ups and downs to both options (SRD-only vs SRD+others)... SRD-only will allow focus, and not attract as many jokers. SRD+others will attract other fandoms and maybe help spread the word about SRD. I suppose it is a matter of how much space & bandwidth you have to work with, and how much time you're willing to spend on it.
The ff.net set-up is the most straightforward, though I've become partial to the eFiction set-up myself (places like Potions & Snitches, Tauri, and most especially Sycophant Hex). I don't think that's worth the trouble, though, unless someone has the time to maintain it and the money/room to host it.
I had a TC/LOTR fic started on my old computer that I was really fond of. Alas, the hard disk crashed. One of these days I may recover it. Also had a TC/Highlander one, but it was not so much a fic as a plot bunny with an intro paragraph. And it was
bad.
