Video game emulators
Anyone use any? I just got one for N64 on my laptop, have a ROM for a game, can start the game, but can't start playing! I don't know what buttons to use to begin the game. Anyone have any idea what combination of buttons I can use
or where I can find out about it?

I used to use one a few years ago, I was hooked on those old arcade games fom the '80s.
The controls were always explained at the beginning.
Is the game you're trying to play full screen or is it within a "console" screen?
What emulator are you using?

There should be a controls option in one of the drop down menus at the top (file, edit etc.) which will let you map the controls to keys on your keyboard or, if you have a controller that will plug into your pc, to the buttons on the controller.
If you change the font to white within spoiler tags does it break them?
I use ZSNES, which is an almost perfect emulation of SNES. ZSNES has the best button-mapping I know of--that is, ability to configure any controller to it and have the controller respond well. But yeah, playing SNES with a keyboard just doesn't cut the mustard, so I bought a thing where I could plug a PS1 controller into my comp via USB.
I could've gone with a real SNES controller, I guess, but PS1 controllers are more durable (in my experience). Easier to obtain, too. Plus, they're just an evolution of the SNES controller. I use the L2 and R2 button for "save" and "load". Works like a dream.
If you're looking for ROMs with no ads/tricks/votes, I find that www.snesorama.us has given me no grief (yet). There are N64 ROMs there, too. Zelda, Perfect Dark, you name it.
