Hope for 2006, expect 2007.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Hi. My name's Bill and I just finished Runes tonight. Just a silly question:

Was there ever any mention of runes in the whole book? If SRD did mention them, I must have missed it.

Welcome to the Watch STF.

I think there's a thread in here somewhere that deals with the issue, but I'm damned if I can remember which one it is. AFAIR, there was no actual mention of "Runes" per se in the book, but several inferences were drawn in the thread.

Right - IIRC there was an instance where Linden thought the grass stains on her clothes looked like runes.

the way Anele reads the stone, could aslo be seen as the the runes of the earth.

Hey SickTwistedFreak: I love your avatar! :)

There were no mention of runes in the first book. Also, there was no "Lord Foul's Bane" either... <grinning>

Hello. I had always thought the title to be a play on words. In the second chronicles Foul had said that Linden would cause the "ruins of the earth". In the Runes of the Earth we see Linden is actually capable of such actions.
Or perhaps the skurj have something to do with the title. It is clear that they come from the "farthest north of the world, where winter has its roots of ice and cold". The following statement that "a fire had been born in the foundations of the firmament" sounds like something that may be connected to the deeper workings of the world.

I found it. pg. 460, WGW (pb):
In her hands, the new Staff began to live.
Living Law filled the bands of lore; living power shown in every fiber of the wood. The old Staff had been rune-carved to define its purpose. But this Staff was alive, almost sentient; it did not need runes.
So, the runes of the earth, are alive in the new Staff.

Warmark's Hope (FR '06?)

Post by SonOFjimRaynor&PhobeHwell »

Hey All,
My first post (first time atop the Watch), Gradual Interview excepted...

Warmark posted: 2006 hope, 2007 probable as date for Fatal Reverent?

Yipe! (I stumbled onto an SRD autographed Runes way back, it had just been released, but I didn't know that. I rushed back to Borders the next day, thinking to get the who Final Chronicles...).

In browsing around a bit, I didn't recognize the more "Deeper Well" ack'ronynms. Is there a cheet page somewhere?

I suppose I should look for a faq as well...

I'll be needing to change my username (no doubt), a union of Star Craft mutant decendants & Charmed Bolder-Holder challenged Wicca... what was I thinking.
