What is your world-view (quiz)?

Post by I'm Murrin »

A little quiz that was posted on FBS.

quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=23320

I did it the other day, and got:
You scored as Modernist.

Modernism represents the thought that science and reason are all we need to carry on. Religion is unnecessary and any sort of spirituality halts progress. You believe everything has a rational explanation. 50% of Americans share your world-view.

Materialist

Postmodernist
63%

Existentialist
63%

Fundamentalist
25%

Romanticist
19%

Cultural Creative

[I wasn't sure whether to post this in the Think-Tank or the Close, but i guessed since it seems to focus on what a person thinks about religion and spirituality...]

You scored as Materialist. Materialism stresses the essence of fundamental particles. Everything that exists is purely physical matter and there is no special force that holds life together. You believe that anything can be explained by breaking it up into its pieces. i.e. the big picture can be understood by its smaller elements.

Great quiz.

I got:
You scored as Postmodernist.

Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

I disagree. ;) Haha, actually, in terms of your worldview, you shouldn't find anything blasphemous.

Thanks, Murrin.
You scored as Idealist.

Duh.
Idealism centers around the belief that we are moving towards something greater. An odd mix of evolutionist and spiritualist, you see the divine within ourselves, waiting to emerge over time. Many religious traditions express how the divine spirit lost its identity, thus creating our world of turmoil, but in time it will find itself and all things will again become one.

You scored as Existentialist.

Existentialism emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.

The reality is in this head. Mine. I'm the projector at the planetarium, all the closed little universe visible in the circle of that stage is coming out of my mouth, eyes, and sometimes other orifices also.

Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

Only problem I have with the results of this it goes against my belief that everything is made of information (as opposed to mass and energy), and information is relative.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I actually tie in a couple of things for the top spot.  They gave me an extra question, asking which of two things was more important to me, and I think that's why they chose one of the two top scores to describe me.

I think that's quite accurate. :) And I find it interesting that though there's a broad spectrum represented here, as I expected, there seem to be a relatively high number of Cultural Creatives.

Yeah, we're supposed to be taking over the world about now, aren't we?

The Materialist score was a bit of a surprise. The only surprise about the Fundamentalist score was that it was so high!
