Spoiler
"Covenant will destroy the universe. SRD didn't say how"

I know, it's not really a spoiler for us here since we heard it all already but I clicked the "Third Chronicle" section by accident and was pleasently suprised by what I saw there.
Some interesting tidbits, imo.

Like the Del Ray part and some pronunciations, that I don't agree with!
(I have developed special pronunciations in my own head but that's my own bad habit)

Check it out if you missed it.

It's stuff like this that prompted me to post a question on the Gradual Interview- mainly cause it seriously freaked me out for a while. I wasn't sure I could bear the implications when it came to my favorite character.

I've calmed down a bit, and wanted to throw two ideas out- I'm sure these've been covered here before, but on the off chance they haven't... (Be patient with me, I'm new. :) )

Idea 1:
Spoiler
In a number of interviews, including one I read about a decade ago, Donaldson has said that Covenant will be Lord Foul in the final series. Now, I'm pretty sure this isn't a literal thing, but it got me to thinking- just what does "being Lord Foul" mean? Apart from "being really evil." Lord Foul is motivated by his imprisonment in the Arch of Time. While he's super nasty, everything he's done has been in the direction of getting free. Isn't Covenant in the same position, now? He sacrificed himself to protect the Arch, and became a part of it. Maybe he's gotten a bit- um- bored...
Idea 2:
Spoiler
So Covenant destroys the Land- possibly to break free, but perhaps also because the ceasures have damaged it beyond repair. (Perhaps he also needs to destroy the Land to free his wife.) Could Jeremiah rebuild it?
Hopefully I don't seem too much a newb positing this here...

No way!
The "Runes Forum" is the place to post and read if you want some speculation and discussion about Runes and also since the spoilers are so numerous, we talk about what's in the Gradual Interview here as well.

Post away.
There are numerous post about what we hope to see too, based on nothing but our own instinct (I started one myself when I first got here.)

Your ideas have been discussed here in multiple threads based on the GI and the past interviews you might have read.
You just have to find them.(or start a new one!)
If you post to it, your post will "bump" the thread to the begining so we'll all see it and can start talking about it again or comment on your post.
So don't worry about posting in a thread that hasn't had much activity.
Someone new can get the talk rolling again.

Well, having come late to the Runes forum, I hadn't seen the questions you raised before, and wonder if you might not have a very good point, (if one with disturbing implications).

And as HLT said, post away. New perspectives always valued and welcome. ;)

HA! Well, there is one thing that seems to be overlooked in discussions of the future of the Land.

I quote SRD from the GI:
Stephen R. Donaldson wrote:You got some of your information from the "spoilers" section, so that's where I'll post this response.

There's really only one thing I want to say. I really hate giving away my secrets, "tipping my hand," telling people in advance what's going to happen. So even when I say here--or have said in other interviews over the years--something that sounds like a clear spoiler, you can be sure that I'm trying harder to obfuscate the truth than to reveal it. Aside from practical issues, like how caesures work, you should be careful not to take what I say at face value. I am (I admit this freely) actively trying to mess with your expectations.

Malicious, I know. But writers are like that. <grin>

So, regardless of The Last Chronicles titles, we must remember that we may not get exactly what the title suggests.

Now, Marlowe, what you suggest in "Idea 1" is not necessarily a bad thing. Remember Covenant's own words to Foul. ;) I do not agree with the final statement in that spoiler, though. I don't think the reason will be what you suggest.

Anyway, I personally don't think that anything that is "spoilered" is a true spoiler, and I would like to respond as such. But, since it is spoilered, I can't....so this post may seem vague.
