It''s good to know that my degree is finally good for something.
I also have some graduate course work in symbiology, which gave me even more of an appreciation of how we are all dependent on the tiniest of creatures to be able to exist in this world at all.

Too bad we tend to forget to appreciate that fact in our modern consumer-driven society. I'd say more, but I don't want to start a depressing rant about the environment and our dubious stewardship of Planet Earth, blah, blah, etc, etc. In the end, we get what we deserve.
If I remember the story right, the officials of Gotham were holding Swamp Thing's girlfriend in jail. He threatened to make their intestinal flora grow like crazy!

Yeah, Av, I know you live for big debates around here, but I'll just keep the peace. I'm just a layperson and have no desire to be shot down by someone who has a degree in microbiology.
You are right, I would never shoot our much beloved MM down. I wouldn't say that my degree has been useless, it did lead me to my current career in workplace safety & health, which I believe is my life's calling, so you never know where that piece of paper might take you.

"Much beloved"? Hold on a minute there. I would apply such a potent phrase to only a select few members, like birdandbear and Furls Fire, whose warmth and generosity have truly made them beloved by all at the Watch.
Me? Just call me mostly harmless. I think of myself as someone who has simply stuck around and managed not to make too many enemies in that time, heh.

Av, naught for nothing, but for your taste, nobody posts in these forums enough!

"Hey, dad," croaked the vulture, "what are you eating?"
"Carrion, my wayward son."
"Will there be pieces when you are done?"
Yeah, MM. Don't make me start a poll and prove it. Everybody around here likes you, so "much beloved" isn't a stretch by any means.
And yeah, we could use a lot more posts here. I highly encourage everyone to start their own thread on whatever spiritual, philosophical, or metaphysical topic strikes their fancy.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
-George Steiner
