I'm trying to be good and not acquire any more novels, as I've now got 112 novels in a big pile that I'm yet to read.
How many novels do you have that you havent read that you plan to?

Around 20 or so. Currently at the top of the list:
A Game of Thrones - George R. R. Martin
The Tyranny of the Night - Glen Cook
Light - M. John Harrison
Neverness - David Zindell
(Not in any particular order.)

I know its more than 170. I hope it hasn't broken 200 yet. I have been good lately and kept my purchases to 2005 releases as I tend to read those to keep current and not fall too far behind; particularly in those series I am avidly invested in. Problem is the number of series has risen to over seventy and there are new authors I want to check out so I don't miss out on them. Its a sickness I know.duke wrote:I'm trying to be good and not acquire any more novels, as I've now got 112 novels in a big pile that I'm yet to read.

So many books, so little time.Avatar wrote:Haha, there are a lot of folks here that would recommend that you move Neverness to the top.

Though I may do that, as it looks rather intriguing.

A Game of Thrones has waited this long, another week won't hurt.

I did too. What a mistake that was. Really disconnected info dumps and a huge amount of worthless blathering. There were a couple of interesting and uniquely imaginative points. But I think we probably all have one or two of those. There is a reason why we aren't all published authors though. A shame that reason was not applied to this work as well. Still I get Ink for free so I will be interested to see how he does the second time around.
I hate when Lisa Goldstein sends me a "I told you so".

It's interesting how people have such different opinions, which is what makes messageboards interesting.
Vellum is the best book of the year thus far IMHO, and one of the strongest debut's I have ever read - but I said that 2 months ago.

I'm a fan of Goldestein's work, however, after reading Daughter of Exile and attempting to read The Divided Crown it amazes me that she would critique anyone.hate when Lisa Goldstein sends me a "I told you so".

The lady and I found another second hand book shop this weekend, all of three minutes' walk from her new house. It has a mighty fantasy/SF section, and I picked up several I've been meaning to get hold of for a while: Daughter of Regals, Reave the Just, Neverness...and my wild card, Necroscope (I like vampire tales when they're done well and not in a cliched fashion - time will tell whether this fits that description...)

Got some goodies in the mail today:
First I got some hardcover of paperbacks I had, of both Punktown by Jeffrey Thomas, and The San Veneficio Canon by Michael Cisco. Both are fantastic IMHO, and are exceptional reads.
I also received Empress of Clouds by Diana Hignutt, Godforsaken by Steven Shresbury, and Defeated by SD McKee
