A Child’s Dream
Child-like dreams, fluttering faintly in blue skies,
Wispy, white mists freely floating above in the deeper heaven,
Allowing the golden sun to warm these dreams.
Soft, gentle flutters hold aloft the fragile forms,
So easily hurt, lasting but meager moments,
Like the playful dreams of a child.
Drifting with warm winds, lazily beating in time with an innocent’s heart,
Each second a year, their lifetime a century.
But the memory eternal - for beauty lasts forever
And dreams a favoured fantasy.
In spring we meet, in summer we dance,
In autumn we embrace, in winter we lie among the soft grasses
Our wings beating softly,
So softly, so quiet
That no one hears,
Except us.
But I am gone, fading in the wind like the Child’s dreams
Awoken to warmer days and beating wings.
(? December 1998)

Heart’s Desire is Forever Yearned
Always east, I fare, to see the rising sun
Emerge from the soft glow of the eastern veil
To light my life; desired emotions hard-won.
Golden, caressing - you drive away Midnight’s pale,
To send gifts, like precious fragile birds
Darting into my life,
Comforting, soothing me with always-remembered words.
To each spring, each morn, sun, you are love;
To my life - this I am sure - you are of fairer times, and
The dawning of each day, the promise of beauty in the world.

Like a Maiden, your soft, enchanting voice - The greeting by the treasured birds to your rising,
The radiant smile - The sun’s rays banishing the barren night,
Thoughts of the fair maiden comforting me in barren times - The sun’s warmth
And her innate beauty - the perfection of each sunrise.

Sun, yet you descend in the west
And night remains,
But by the promise of seeing you again, with each majestic dawn
The night is no barren time,
But of hope, with dreams of you - the caress of each day’s past memory;
The joy of knowing I will see you again, rise into my life.

Nice. Like the second one especially. I have one that's almost the opposite of that, (literally, not metaphorically), hailing the rise of night, its triumph against the sun.

So LM, has your style of writing changed very much over the years? in 99/98 your style of writing was already very sophisticated... reminds me of ivy league poetry, as opposed to the beat/slam stuff that my friends generally focus on. I'm somewhere in the middle, appreciating both and borrowing from both. So that the people who read my stuff always have a complaint :p

Wow what an observation! Very astute. My main inspiration is Oscar Wilde and the Romanticists. Have you posted your poetry here?

Very cool. Stirring visions of emotion ,they are both very visual to me in their telling.

I especially liked 'Heart’s Desire is Forever Yearned'.
