Which do you like the most? If there has been a poll on this already, don't vote, and I'll delete it.

You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I liked both, although the first is probly a slight fav because of the Land itself & earthpower being used for good, healthy purposes as opposed to the 2nd where it's used for unhealthy purposes. I liked the second cause TC finally decides to personally do something about the plight of the land.

I preferred the second Covenant seemed to be a fuller character. You've got to love the whole sunbane concept.

I know I do! I personally like the Second Chronicles. More depressing, it! First Chronicles felt too Tolkien, especially LF's Bane.

Which Was Best First or Second Chrons?

Post by Kasreyn »

On the whole I thought that the first chrons were more moving but the second chrons contained some of the best fantasy ideas and THE most moving chapter of all where T C meets all of his old muckers in Andelain.

The First are easily my favourite, I found the Second pretty tough going, but they both have multiple strong points.

The Second. More like one huge book in thirds than 3 separate books. More depth. Really enjoyed finally meeting the peoples alluded to in the 1st Chronicles. "Nom." How many of us held the book at arms length and went "Whew!!!" at that occurance?

The first Chronicles, hands down. Linden Avery angered me and I hated her role in the series until book three when she began to shape up.

The First was better. The story was tighter.

We have of course posted on this subject before - I can't remember a poll though. I couldn't vote so I guess the poll is closed. Anyway I would have voted for the 2nd Chronicles. I love the whole idea of 'giving them back something broken' and the Giants, those magnificent Giants. I love Foamy but in the 2nd chrons you get a whole boat full of them.
There is also Love in the World.

I am quite fond of both of the series, but I think I would have to say that it is the second that is my favorite.

The first. Definitely the first. The Land was so clean and whole and ..... and I wonder if I should just put down the book I'm reading to read them again.

I found the second too painful, and I've only read them right through once.

I just have to say that both have their strong points. I can never choose favorites when it comes to something good like the Chrons. I mean, the First Chronicles.. well, it's the beginning and I personally always feel a nostalgic attatchment to the beginning of anything (particularly books). And the Second Chronicles is when we witness just how bad things can get and.. (woo, I'm getting excited) ..it's just.. ah, it's hard to explain, I just love them both so much  . If anyone understands what I'm trying to say, please let me know. Well, see everyone later, and cheers!

They are pieces which fit together to make a whole. If any part were missing it would be incomplete. I always like the middle books because the reader knows there is more to come.
