Someone needs to stop me from buying/reading KoD

I'm afraid my OCD will make me powerless when KoD comes out in the fall, forcing me to buy this book and read it, even though I can't remember anything about this stupid series anymore.

The only thing that I remember is that I killed some character named Asmodean. I have the t-shirt to prove it.

Is there some sort of clinic I could check myself into?

My only hope is that I'm still reading Runes until next year, delaying my KoD sentence. Heh.-jay

(Plus, there are two books now in the Harry Turtledove "Settling Accounts" series which I still have to read. I'm falling behind, heh.)

*tears leak from Darth's eyes* I'm also suffering from the same thing Jay. I have no desire to read this book, I know it's only going to make me want to spit, but I know that's I'll get it and read it...

I don't have a problem. Of course, I'll still buy the damned book and read it, probably after re-reading all previous ten and the prequel, but that doesn't mean I have a problem.

For a spoiler free review from an ARC owner. Says its fast paced (for a WOT book), Jordan wraps up some of the plot lines, and a lot of people get killed.

Sounds like he really will get his series done in two more books (including this one). I had serious doubts that he could after that last book, but if this reader can be believed, he really gets back on track with this book.

Let's be honest...even if the review sucked, I'd still buy it. I own all other 11, there's no way I could give them up now and have an incomplete series of that length on my shelves.

^^The only problem I have with that review is that this is the SAME guy who said that Crossroads of Twilight didn't suck.

To quote what he said about Crossroads...

This Book is GREAT. It picks up the pace once more and things are happening. Is this book exciting? Yes. Do we learn a lot of new facts? Yes. A lot. Does this book actually advance the plot? Yes.

Where's the puking face smiley? Heh.

I'll believe it when I see it, heh.

I still don't think RJ is capable of killing characters. Why, I don't know.

It'll probably be minor characters who kick it. I, for one, have no intention of reading this book. My mom, on the other hand, will probably jump on it. It's been a lot less time for her between books. Last time I read one, I think I was still in high school.

i think that every one of Jordans readers suffer from OCD... why else would he have such a large audience? Certainly not for great writing..

Because of Robert Jordan, I have stopped reading books that are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc... in a series until the entire series has been completed.

Even when it takes me weeks to get through a book, I still have to wait months, and sometimes years for the next one to arrive. Inevitably, I need to reread the entire saga up to that point.

When I first started WOT I was happy that a 3rd book would be written, even though Jordan originally thought it would be completed in 2 volumes. What a joke! I can't imagine how he went from a duology to a 12-13 book series with prequels and 'in'quels.

It's no wonder his fans are upset.

I hear you! I formed my policy of never reading an incomplete series just before The Eye of the World came out. And man, am I glad I stuck to that.

There are exceptions to this rule, but Robert Jordan isn't one of them. SRD is one. I bought each volume of The Gap when it came out, because I wanted to have them in hardcover, and I knew that if I waited the hardcovers would go out of print. If I like an author enough to spend that kind of money, I'll trust him to stick to the plan and finish the story in a reasonable time. Mr. Rigney has not earned that trust.

All this complaining of jordan, I can't honestly find a person who had nothing bad to say about him. Even someone who hasn't even heard of him thinks he's a berk.

i may find some parts in WOT a little boring and slow, but ive felt that way about alot of the books/series that ive read, including donaldson...i think its inevitable

and i find WoT a MUCH smoother read than a song of ice and fire so far...
