Bob The Builder....Can We Fix It? Yes, We Can!jelerak wrote:After very many good recommendations from fellow Watchers, I am about halfway through A Game of Thrones. Hurricane Katrina put a big pause in my progress, but I am finally back at it.
So far...totally awesome book.

Sorry...I saw your avatar and that damn song started playing in my head. My 1-year-old loves Bob The Builder, so I've got that song permanently burned into my memory.

Now to get back on topic: Almost finished with Mary Gentle's "Rats and Gargoyles". Very interesting, very strange.
Indeed, ASoIaF is great.Lord Mhoram wrote:One of my favorites, jelerak.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

Finished "Rats and Gargoyles" and am currently reading "Altered Carbon" by Richard Morgan. Taking a little break from the usual run of fantasy to check this out, as I've heard some good things about Morgan's stuff. Not a big sci-fi person, but I do like a good "hard-boiled" detective story, and the "re-sleeving" concept in AC is very interesting.

Well, half-way through The Broken God, also courtesy of Edge. Thoroughly enjoying it, although I feel like I'm struggling to put the thought it deserves into it, because I have to read it off the PC.
Regardless, am thoroughly enjoying it. Must say, it's a bit disconcerting that the central character's name is Danlo. For the first 20 pages or so, it really threw me.
Kept breaking my concentration...Danlo..huh?...
Now my next problem is finding copies of the next two parts. Aaarg! That's what happens when you let people add to your reading list.
Definitely worthy of your resommendation...Danlo.
Oh, LM, Canticle is fantastic. Wish they'd assigned us books like that at school.

Yeah, the four books definitely need a lot of thought and reflection. I've only read them once, and I know I've forgotten way too much. Can't wait to read them again! I have so many other books on my pile, but I may do them first.
So don't forget to go to the Hangar's Neverness forum:

As usual, I have some quotes.
A bunch for the first book, at least, most of the way down the first page.
