IMO, yes.
I look at it this way:
In order for me to go back into the past to an event that already took place and participate in that event (or change it), a multiplicity has to exist. Otherwise I couldn't have gone back to the past in the first place. It wouldn't be there. Because it already happened. Or it would be an image of an event that I liken to a motion picture. I'd be able to view it, but I couldn't participate in it. Because it was an image of the past, not the past itself.

Which means, if one could go back to the past and participate, an infinite number of pasts must exist, all with infinite possibilities of moving forward on infinite timelines into the future.

In that scenario, if I could go into the past and change it, it would only create another timeline from that point on, but wouldn't affect the timeline from which I came.

That's just the way I see it. Don't ask me to prove it, because I can't.

No worries, it's a fairly popularly posited theory, just wanted to know if that's where you were going. Now Syl can have the thread back. Maybe. ;)

I just can't believe I posted this in the Close, and nobody wants to check out Jesus. *shrug*

Me, I'm an opportunist. I'd either go back to the 30s and patent the transistor or just jump back to the early 90s and do everything hindsight has shown me I should've done.

I'd pick going to the 1200s and ruling the world with my god-like knowledge, but I might get burned at the stake.

LMAO! Don;t worry, you'd have a bunch of Watchers as your army protecting you (and maybe eventually overthrowing you. ;) )

Hey, I'd like to check out Jesus in the flesh, too. :)

And, yeah, ur-bane is right, Syl, we'll protect you from the barbarian hordes. They'll have to get past me and my shades. And you know I would never consider overthrowing you. I'm perfectly harmless, heh.

Mind you, this might give Avatar some ideas. He's always talking about setting up his own little benevolent dictatorship if he had the opportunity. :P

Oh yes, if I was to go anywhere, it would be during the time Jesus walked among us. I would love to hear His teachings, witness His miracles, follow His Light. I would not wish to witness the crucifixion tho, my heart would not be able to take it.
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

about 1975. i'd like to see my elementary school as i best remember it. that's it, no earth shaking events, because that would disrupt things. just a nice spring day when the sun was shining, the smell of winter melting away, the mud and rotting leaves left over from last year. still chilly in the shade, but kind of toasty.

Agreed. How about a baseball bat to the temple.

Back to August 27, 2005 and get JUST ONE MORE box of pralines from Katie Later's on Royal Street in the French Quarter. :(

Most of what I read puts the French Quarter eventually being OK since it was built on slightly higher ground. I think NO as we know it is gone, but the spirit... I also think that with a little ingenuity, the city could have a mini rennaisance.

Does that >3500 assume an infinite period before 3500? If so, I myself would like to go back to the Beginning of Time, and be the First One! And I can't believe no one wants to go there too? (not necessarily with me haha! :P ) :?:
