So yesterday morning, I went for a follow-up visit to the podiatrist to see how my broken and dislocated toe was healing. After taking some X-rays and comparing them with X-rays taken of my feet a year ago (for orthotics), the podiatrist commented that I "really did a good job" of messing up my toe (all from walking into a cardboard box full of papers!).

By 3:30 pm yesterday, I was in the OR for surgery to fix the break and insert a pin in my toe to align it properly. Both the anesthesiologist and the nurse in the OR recognized me. The anesthesiologist has worked at two other hospitals at which I have worked, and the nurse was at nursing school with me.

The surgery went quickly, and I was home in time for a late dinner.

Today, I have spent the day with my foot up, not too much pain, so far. :) (I have my percocet handy, though, and have taken a few. ;))

Sorry to hear about that MMM, we all hope you heal well. |G

Feel pretty good today. Rested well this weekend, had a long call from our son and he is doing well.

Glad to hear it, Jedi. Talking with your son is probably a renewal kind of feeling, isn't it?

I feel terrible. I feel like several trolls spent the night carefully prying each of my vertebrae out of place and hammering them into a tight, non-alligned position, being sure to pinch at least one nerve between each.

Then, they jumped up and down on my knees for good measure.

Somehow, Bush is responsible forthis...I KNOW it.

I'm actually in a good mood. Things are looking up, and the book I'm reading is cute and funny.

So, I had plans to be really productive with my research this weekend. And so, of course, I start to get a cold in the middle of Saturday. And I've been weak and my head's been hurting all weekend. Heh. So much for research.

Plus, Maryland football lost a HEARTBREAKER to Clemson.

Oh well. I did get to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for free at the university movie theater with a friend, so the weekend wasn't a complete loss. Heh.

And hopefully this cold will be gone by classes tomorrow. Bah humbug. Heh.-jay

Nyquil...hits me like 800 proof liquor mixed with a bigass dose of benadryl :faint:

Well, the first person in my immediate department was given her papers today. One of the social workers came into the pharmacy with her paperwork and a fistful of shots. :o She will be flown down to Jackson, Mississippi tomorrow. Jackson VAMC serves as the deployment base for Biloxi. She is a pharmacist and a mother of four, the oldest being 12, the youngest only 2. She will be gone for two weeks.
Love as thou wilt.

Blah. Just... blah. I think I'm reaching my burnout point as far as work goes. I can never seem to stick to anything for more than a few months at a time, so the fact that I've lasted over a year at this job is rather impressive. Back on my barnwork cycle now. Wonder what mood I'll be in around next Spring? Other people are happy doing the same thing for twenty years in a row... how come I can't last six months without needing a major change?

Hope everybody's feeling better, or on their way to it.

My deepest sympathies, sgtnull. :(

It is especially tragic that this happened to someone who still had so much life ahead of him. :(
