During gaming and even just simple surfing on the internet, i sometimes crash to a blue screen with the message
Beggining dump of physical memory.
Memory dump complete.
Also theres is a load of binary codes and such aswell but i cannot remember them.
Any ideas?

Seriously, mine did that quite a bit. I have no clue what caused it, but I reformatted and started from scratch and it hasn't happened since.

either a driver conflict or "defect", or a "bad ram" problem. Its a very tricky one to diagnose, and actually could be caused by many things, but I would start with upgrading your system drivers and see what happens. Enlarging your "swap file" may also help. This could go on forever, tho.....

I would think 512 RAM would be sufficient, unless you have alot of programs running in the background, or alot of spy ware. Beyond that, I don't have a clue.

I usually only have a gamin program called xfire running during a game
I just updates windows which gave me another spyware checker, so ill run that and hope for the best!
EDIT: Found 2 spyware programs many adware programs and a few hijacker programs.
I think more virus scans are in order!

Warmark, I was unaware that Windows had spyware software. I'm currently using AdAware, but I'd like to use the Windows stuff as well.

Microsoft includes "anti-spyware" files and such in their "automatic updates" (yellow shield near clock) in addition to the "beta-ware",(TMG ) and The Esmer recommends Spybot Search and Destroy, as well as Ad-Aware (cail! )

The swap file idea is a good one. I don't know how full your hard drive is, but if it doesn't have enough room for the swap file to work properly (moving data out of RAM and onto the HD as needed), this can cause your system to crash.
It may not be that you don't have enough RAM, but that your RAM chips themselves have some problems. Could be as simple as "chip creep," that they've become loose in their sockets. It's always a good idea to open up the case and check all cable connections, cards, etc. for tight fits.
The drivers suggestion is also a good one. Have you added any new hardware? Perhaps you don't have the most updated drivers. Bad graphics cards, especially, can lead to problems. Also, which OS do you have? XP can be picky about running older stuff.
I don't really think spyware causes the Blue Screen, but it can be dangerous for other reasons. Esmer, could a corrupt registry cause this problem?
yea, thats why I mentioned "could go on forever". Overwritten system dll's, registry, drivers, etc., ad infinitum!. (reformatting eliminates all problems, thats why I love it! No surprises. Plus it helps find hardware issues by ruling out software/ OS issues)
i'm no wirehead, merely a user, but we had this problem after we installed Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, which is a graphics heavy game. i think we finally decided it was a combination of the drivers and file swap. i'm not sure what my mate actually did but we haven't had the problem in a while. he's takin a little snooze right now but i'll ask him when he wakes up.

Yeah, it's amazing how often that solves problems. It's become one of the first things I check.
