But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion
I'm afraid there's no denying

Just back from buying it, even the blurb sounds good!
Also the new maps are great.

ASOIAF is one series that has gotten better and better with each book.
I can't wait for A Feast For Crows. Less than two months!
Does anyone know when it'll be coming out in Canada? I know its coming out on my birthday in October in Great Britain, rather than in November like here in the States. If its coming out in October in Canada, I might take a little drive across the border and give myself a birthday gift.
I can pick up all of the Erikson books while I'm at it, rather than just the two available here.
edit: Nevermind. I just answered my own question.

Yeah, the maps in SoS are good, though I wish they had a map of the overall world instead of breaking it up into the Seven Kingdoms, the Wall, and the area where Daenerys is. I still have trouble getting a handle on where the Free Cities are supposed to be (Pentos, Tyrosh, etc.) in relation to Westeros.Warmark wrote:Just back from buying it, even the blurb sounds good!

Yes, Fonstad passed away on March 11. It was Starkin who alerted us to the news in this thread:kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6465

Thinking of starting Guy Gavriel Kay's Tigana, which has been sitting unread in my bookshelf for something like ten years now.
I remember not getting into it when I got it, (somebody gave it to me) and never going back, but I'm pretty sure I've seen good things said about the author here, so I think I'll give it another go.

I went back a few pages can't find where I left off, so if there is overlap I apologize:
I recently finished Catheryyne M. Valente's Yume Me Hon: Book of Dreams, the newest release from one of the great new stylists in the genre. A Beautiful novel.
I also recently finished China Mieville's fantastic collection Looking for Jake - excellent work from perhaps my favorite current SFF author.
Currently I'm making my way through 3 other works, Sanity and the Lady, by the legendary Brian Aldiss, Mothers & Other Monsters, a collection by the thus far terrific Maureen F. McHugh and The Twisted Root of Jaarfindor by Sean Wright.
Regarding non-genre work I just got Shalimar the Clown by Salman Rushdie

Tigana is probably my favorite work by Kay. I may be a little biased, but it is very good.

I just happened to have finished Kay's most recent book "The Last Light of the Sun" and moved on to read Neil Gaiman's "American Gods".

I am finding Undead and Unwed to be both hilarious (though I do have a sick sense of humor) and a bit raunchy. Luckily, I work with the foulest mouthed human being in the world, so all the naughty language doesn't really bother me. I've heard it all and much worse.Edge wrote:Duchess: I read MJ Davidson's 'Undead' books a couple of weeks ago, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Also her werewolf series (The Wyndham Werewolves) which are even funnier (a bit raunchier, too).

Spoiler
I have been finding the sex scenes, especially the orgy scene with Eric and his harem, to be pretty funny.

I've finished The Worm Ouroboros, which means I can put behind me tongue-twisters such as this: "Thou doest right. If thou didst other thou'dst have my blame."
Started Jack Vance's The Dying Earth. His style doesn't really suit me; I'll probably read the series one story at a time, and read other things in between.
