15 days left. The race is on.

Post by kevinswatch »

Only 15 days left until it has been 1 full year since the release of The Runes of the Earth.

I still haven't finished the bloody thing.

I think I'm on page 360 or something. I do know that I just finished Chapter 4 of Part 2.

At my current reading speed of 2 pages per day, I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it.

I'm really going to have to pick up the pace, lest I completely humiliate myself as both a Donaldson fan and as a person who claims to be able to read at a 6th grade level.

WILL Jay finish The Runes of the Earth in less than a full year?

OR will he be forced to resign as Admin of SRD's official message board for being completely incapable of reading a single book?

IS there anything more pathetic than someone not being able to finish a single, solitary, book over the course of an entire year?

JAY VS THE RUNES OF THE EARTH

Who will be victorious, and win the rights to gloat their victory for centuries to come?

Who will be completely humiliated, never again able to show their face at the Watch?

These questions, and MORE to be answered soon.

Available now on Pay Per View.

No. :P
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

What I don't understand it is even *possible* to read that slow. Stuff that happened in the previous chapter is something you read a month ago! That must do wonders for your reading comprehension ...

A quick impression of KW, reading:
Spoiler
"Linden confronted the Demondim..."
Demondim? WTF?!?! [flips through pages] oh, yeah, right.

"Linden confronted the Demondim with the Staff ..."
Staff? What Staff?!?! [flips through pages] ok, that one. heh.

"Linden confronted the Demondim with the Staff, while the ur-viles and waynhim ..."
geeziz KEERIST! [flips through pages] Ah, screw it. [puts book away]
:D  heh.

LMAO! Wayfriend.
(Jay--- DON'T read Wayfriend's spoiler. It references stuff after what you're up to. (Linden just got to the Land for you, right? ;) ) )

:haha: ROTFLMAO! Nice one, Wayfriend!

Jay, d'you want me to get you the audio version for Christmas? 'Cause you'll only be around chapter 6 or 7 of part ii by then, right? ;)

LMAO Wayfriend! I nearly spat coffee all over my computer!

Hey Jay, I actually think you've got the right idea! By the time you finish reading "Runes" Fatal Revenant will be out SO unlike the rest of us who are waiting around for the next book, you'll just be able to finish the first one and pick up the second straight away.

You're a lot smarter than the rest of us! :D

Heh...thanks for warning me to not read Wayfriend's post...after I finished reading it.... :P

Hey, I'm not that short into the book...Linden has been in the Land for a loooooong time now, heh. At least she's off that stupid Watch.

Har har har, let's all laugh at the person with the reading disability (caused by a combination of graduate school and simple laziness). ;)

Haha... Thanks for the encouragement... Who knows, maybe that won't be such a bad idea...heh. If I'm still reading this thing in December, I may have to throw in the towel and simply admit that The Runes of the Earth has defeated me. Although I refuse to be humiliated by a book like that...I must finish it this month!

And now, presenting the epic struggle of Man vs Book, I give you this visual interpretation of the events:

Image

Heh. Just think, in the time it took me to make that image, I could have read another page of Runes.-jay

Oh, and you're right, it is that bad when I read...heh. I constantly have to go back and reread the stuff that I forget, heh. It's even worse when the stuff I forget is on the previous page.

I think the chances are pretty slim at this point, since the front page of the Style section in the Washington Post the other day announced the return of Calvin and Hobbes. You'll be too busy pouring over the new collections. :-)
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Don't listen to these naysayers High Lord...you can do it.

All it requires is a firm commitment to completely ignore the rest of your responsibilities.

Well there's the problem Jay, you've brought a spoon to a knife fight.

You know what you've doing wrong Jay? Sleeping. It's totally overrated. ;)
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I'm simply horrified that Wayfriend applied scotch tape to the Runes dust jacket.
