Quickly picked up another Nancy Kress: BEGGARS & CHOOSERS. I'm excited about this author.

Been carrying on with Feist's Riftwar / Serpentwar saga - this is the first time I'm reading the whole thing right through.

Finished:

The Riftwar Saga:
'Magician'
'Silverthorn'
'A Darkness at Sethanon'

The Serpent War Saga:
'Shadow of a Dark Queen'
'Rise of a Merchant Prince'
'Rage of a Demon King'
'Shards of a Broken Crown'

Legends of the Riftwar:
'Jimmy the Hand'

Krondor's Sons :
'Prince of the Blood'

Riftwar Legacy:
'Krondor the Betrayal'

Now reading:'Krondor The Assassins'

The dilemma I now face is: do I interrupt the flow of Feist, to read 'Knife of Dreams'? :?

Reading Mieville's "Iron Council".
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Four Chapter until i Start Feast of Crows!
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I'm reading Life the Universe and Everything (3rd in the Hitchikers Trilogy)--just finished reading my oldest boy The Lion Witch and Wardrobe...the reason that was so cool, it that it was also my first time reading it)
I thought you were a ripe grape

I lifted this off Amazon:
From Publishers Weekly
Long-awaited doesn't begin to describe this fourth installment in bestseller Martin's staggeringly epic Song of Ice and Fire. Speculation has run rampant since the previous entry, A Storm of Swords, appeared in 2000, and Feast teases at the important questions but offers few solid answers. As the book begins, Brienne of Tarth is looking for Lady Catelyn's daughters, Queen Cersei is losing her mind and Arya Stark is training with the Faceless Men of Braavos; all three wind up in cliffhangers that would do justice to any soap opera. Meanwhile, other familiar faces—notably Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen—are glaringly absent though promised to return in book five. Martin's Web site explains that Feast and the forthcoming A Dance of Dragons were written as one book and split after they grew too big for one volume, and it shows. This is not Act I Scene 4 but Act II Scene 1, laying groundwork more than advancing the plot, and it sorely misses its other half. The slim pickings here are tasty, but in no way satisfying. (Nov.)

Interesting review. I can't say much on it since I'm still not even halfway into the book, but it makes sense that the book would turn out that way. Feast was never meant to be written, and it was only the inconvenience of flashbacks and the need of one particular story (never specified, I suspect Brienne) to be told that prompted him to add this volume. So, Feast is basicaly filling the gaps, I suppose - patching up some holes that would've been there if Martin had progressed straight to Dragons. I don't think we expected any particulalry major events to occur in this short period, since really we're all just sitting around waiting for Dany to land, which is where the real story will take off. I'd probably agree with the description of this book as 'groundwork' - but necessary groundwork, background that the series couldn't do without.

And anyway, it's always fun watching Cersei panic every time the little king coughs.

If DANCE OF DRAGONS is already almost written, I wonder if I should wait and read FEAST when I can go right on to DANCE.

What is the title of the Book after Dance? Also is that the last one?

Off topic but whe reading SoS today Jaime mentioned something about Dance of Dragons - i think this was a time when brothers of the Kingsgaurd fought one and other?

The Dance of the Dragons was the Targaryen civil war, fought between a brother and sister. You'll hear a little more about it in one-off PoV chapter The Soiled Knight.
