Famous last words

Post by Cail »

OK, I know this is morbid, but I got to thinking about this this morning. None of us know when we're going to die, but if we have any say about it, what would we want our last words to be?

I've always liked Captain Kirk's, "Oh my!", and I like Thomas Magnum's "A pint of stout." when he came back from the dead.

I'd like, "I can see...."
"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." - PJ O'Rourke

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." - James Madison

Oh, man, the possibilities are endless!

Et tu Brute?

Wait! Just give me five more minutes!!

I will now begin the longest fillibuster in history...
All lies and jest
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

From Terry Pratchett's 'Going Postal':
“In that case,” said Moist Von Lipwig, “I now commend my soul to any god that can find it.” “Nice,” said the hangman, and pulled the lever.

What I'd like my last words to be: "I lied. I hate you all."

What they probably will be: "Oh s***!"
"We probably could have saved ourselves, but we were too damned lazy to try very hard... and too damn cheap." - Kurt Vonnegut

"Now if you remember all great paintings have an element of tragedy to them. Uh, for instance if you remember from last week, the unicorn was stuck on the aircraft carrier and couldn't get off. That was very sad. " - Kids in the Hall

I'm convinced mine will be, "Hey, watch this!"

Yeah, Sulu said that too, but he's not dead. Kirk's last words were "It was... fun. Oh, my..."

But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I always thought that was a "tribute" or a joke reference to Sulu somehow.

I do think mine might be "See? There was nothing wrong with that food!"

With my family at my side: "I suppose now would be a good time to mention my winning lottery ticket, I put it.........."

My daughter would "get it" and think it was pretty funny.

I was this close to beating the Guinness World Record for oldest man alive!
Statler: Shakesphere would have hated that!
Waldorf: You should know, you dated his sister!
Both: (laugh)
Statler: Boy, was she ugly.

I'd like to quote Wolfe: "First are those who become new gods, and for whom new universes are born."

I'd better die slowly though...it's a long line. :D
