The thing is, none of us have had the same experiences that
Covenant has experienced. Even if we wound up with leprosy,
we still wouldn't be the same person Covenant was.

For instance, I have what Covenant seems to lack-- family and
friends. Would Covenant have needed Unbelief if he had someone
who loved him in the real world? Would he have even been
chosen?

Are you sure? Some of us may be adopted kids, some may be gay, some may be Christian, some against religion, some attackers, some defnders, but all people....

Are you sure that you don't have any feeling about this?It could be nothing it could be something & it is most certainly not going to change the internet dances of late, but it is going to fail some boys from getting a dream date to the prom. So let's help them all. I invite you all to go to break.com and enjoy the best videos on the web. They've recently been authenticed by sindicated television programming and they merely need to get the attention of some establistment like MTV before we start seeing "Stupid Human Tricks" on a whole new level.

Enjoy :)

Nerdanel wrote:On my latest reread I really noticed how I and Covenant have drastically different views in some respects. It wasn't that I wanted Covenant to be a fantasy hero, but I noticed he was very much a different personality. I'd say Covenant is INFP (which I think SRD is also, the typical type for a fiction writer) while I am INTP. It's only a one letter difference, but its the difference between emotion and intellect. Covenant's primary function is inwards-directed feeling and my inwards-directed thinking.
I disagree with your TC judgement here. I believe he is an ENFP. Notice how he always manages to inflict his own emotions (mostly suffering) on his surroundings. Even his unbelief can be seen as a way of expressing his own worldview on his surroundings. Additionally I think that if he were and 'I' type person he would be more introspective than he is, but everything he does is usually done in relation to someone or something else.

I personally would try not to limit myself with questioning the validity of the "Land". To me, what difference does it make if this reality is any more real than the Land. I understand that T.C. does not want to lose the self-protecting habits he has had to engrave into his every day life. However, once you have established that THIS place seems just as real as where he was taken from, I would open myself up to the options that the Land provides.

I would think that as a leper, you are pretty damn aware of what lepersy feels like. If you suddenly find yourself no longer having these symptoms, why not pursue that discovery? Test whether or not you are still afflicted. If all signs point to not having them, I would think that I would be far more open to what these people are telling me. Let's be honest, most people liken reality to what they see, feel, smell, taste, and touch. If what I am experiencing now in the Land is appealing to all of these senses, that's pretty damn real to me. So why not treat it as such.

As far as being the hero, that is a hard question to answer. Unless put into that situation, I am not sure what I would / could do. I know that as a human being with a conscious and a sense of morality, I would be torn between saving my own ass and those who are relying on me. I guess I would attempt to learn what I could about the ring's magic and my purpose in the Land.

Just two cents from a new comer.

Well, I can "dream control", so I'd first run the usual tests that I run while I'm dreaming to prove whether the Land was real or a dream.

And unlike Covenant, whether it is a dream or not matters to me. If the Land was a dream I'd do what I wanted (or assume that its the onset of madness due to my leprosy), if it was real ... I'd like to think I'd be more helpful than Covenant was, but I dont know.

Yeah, we're a fantastic bunch. ;)

If you're just starting out though, maybe you should avoid the TC and Runes forums...spoilers everywhere you know. (Unless you don't mind that.)

But don't worry, there's plenty else to discuss on the Watch as well. Why not drop past the Summonsing Forum, and introduce yourself? :D

Yeah, I've been sure to stay away from things that I have not read about yet. I'm so enthralled with these books that I don't want to ruin anything.

And I'll head over there today to introduce myself better. :)
