Vain, you should know Cho hasn't been able to get in... or hadn't, when I last spoke to her two days ago.

OK. I cleared the sessions table. It would have logged you guys out if you were logged in. Can Cho and Fist see if it works now?

Could this be browser-dependent? Have you folks tried different browsers? I'm using Konqueror on Linux and only get logged out when Vain does something to fix the login problems.

Were you guys logged in during the hacking? I ask because a couple of people got their passwords and emails changed. Looks like most people are having a different problem, but if you're getting some sort of user id/password error, PM me your login info (user name, password, email)and I will re-enter it.

Well, certainly suggests that there isn't anything wrong with your account anyway.

I wonder in Nerdanel has a point? I'm still having the same problem...get logged out as automatically as I get logged in.

I'm using IE 6.02 on WinXP Professional, SP2.

Dlb's let me know that he's cleaned out all his temp files/cookies etc. using 3 different progs, including Murrins (excellent) CCleaner. Usually he has Fists problem, but sometimes he can log in, but by the time he's clicked on a link or two, he's logged out again.

...your ISP may be using a proxy system that changes your IP address during your browsing session....

IIRC, the proxy setting on my machine is off, but my IP is dynamic. It could always be happening beyond my machine I guess...worked fine until the upgrade though...

I think we're asking the wrong questions. I think we should be asking ourselves, do we really want Av and Fist to be able to log in again?

The problem is in how phpBB handles cookies - apparently it used to be very loose but they tightened it up

For those who have login problems, may I suggest the following:

1. Download and run the CCCleaner (as per link supplied by Murrin in this topic)

2. Check your cookie settings:
a. From Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" then "Internet Options".

b. From the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, select the "Privacy" tab.

c. Click on the Advanced button

3. Ensure the following are selected:

a. Override automatic cookie handling
b. Accept 1st party cookies
c. Accept 3rd party cookies
d. Always allow session cookies

If this still fails to sort the problem out then
1. From Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" then "Internet Options".
2. From the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, select the "Privacy" tab.
3. Click the "Edit" button next to "To Override cookie handling for individual web sites".
4. Type in a domain (kevinswatch.ihugny.com or www.ihugny.com - try both) and press the "Allow" button to allow that domain to set cookies on your machine.
5. Press "OK" and close both dialog boxes when done.

If you perform this technique and cookies are still not being saved, check your firewall and anti-spyware software if you have any installed. Depending on your firewall or anti-spyware software settings, all cookies may be deleted before being stored on your computer, or they may only be stored until you close the web browser. Techniques for modifying firewall and anti-spyware behavior differ depending on the software packages.

Well, I'm back. For the moment, anyway. I couldn't get on this morning, so I deselected the few cookies I had in Window Washer.

Good to hear it Fist. :D

I dunno, have tried Vain's latest suggestion, and it seems to be working so far, but I've gotten optimistic too often recently. (Had to specify this site as "allowable cookies")

I'll withold opinion and optimism until tomorrow, but so far it looks good...haven't been logged out since I made the change to my settings.

Here's hoping... ;)

Damn...no good. Was logged in for an hour, then kicked. If it is the firewall, there's not much I can do about it. *sigh* But at least I can still post. *shrug* Losing the new post markers isn't that bad. The "recent posts" link would be nice to have back though in that case.

dlb - have you tried creating a new username and seeing if you can login with it?

Good to see you're up and running FnF :)

Av - that's what you get for surfing from work ;)
