Arrested Development

Post by Lord Mhoram »

The greatest show on television? I think so. It's being canceled by Fox, those bastards. But I'm hoping that Showtime will pick it up. *prays*

I am obsessed with this show. It is so subtle, so loaded with jokes and allusions to pop culture, past episodes, and character quirks such as sexual ambiguity, alcoholism, corruption, etc. The characters are great.

Tobias Funke, David Cross, is pretty hilarious. He's probably gay, but we never know for sure, and he's married to a beautiful woman. Some classic lines: "I just blue myself," "Tobias, you blowhard!" and "I seem to have prematurely blown my wad, on a dry run, if you will."

Not gonna lie, I love all the characters - Gob, Lindsey, Michael, George Michael, Buster, and Lucille. Oh God, is she great.

This show is hilarious. Does anyone else watch it? I know it has a cult following, but has poor ratings. Hence its cancelation.

Fox once again has a great show and cancelles it. AD is nothing shy of brilliant.

Michael drives around in an airport ladder truck and no one says anything. Love it.

Unfortunately every show I truly love..outside of the Simpsons and X-Files gets cancelled way too soon. I love the Bluth family....Jason Bateman is possibly my ideal husband.

Damn, I really like this show. What is it with Fox? They seem to have a great eye for new shows, but then they cancel them just as they're getting going.

I've gotta believe it's some sort of policy with them. There's so many good shows they've had that just needed more time that they've cancelled.

I've seen a few episodes of Arrested, and overall what I've seen has been really funny. It's been one of the few shows that actually makes me laugh out loud. I love Gob's whole magician bit, with the background music and the dancing.

But yeah, sadly, I've only seen a few episodes, since I never remember what time it comes on, since Fox seems to move it around a lot, and never actually promotes or advertises the new time slot. I mean, come on, how do they expect people to watch the show when they don't know what time it comes on. What time DOES it come on now, anyway? Heh.

It is quite pathetic though when great shows like this get canceled, while the rest of TV is just FILLED with complete crap.

My sister, though, is obsessed with this show, heh. I think she already owns all of the DVDs. Maybe I should steal those from her sometime...heh.-jay

jay,

Yeah, DVD has really saved a bunch of shows, including Family Guy and Arrested Development. By the way, jay, Gob's background music is "The Final Countdown" by Europe. ;)

I'm watching the 2-hour series finale right.

I AM PRAYING THAT SHOWTIME PICKS THIS SHOW UP.

Yeah, it's definately DVD-worthy.

when i watched the finale of AD, i could have sworn they kept calling it the season finale, not the series finale...i guess maybe they were leaving it open it case it WAS picked up somewhere else... i think it really had to do with the timeslot...it started on sunday, which was a really good slot, cuz sundays are a big night for Fox...all based on the Simpsons, and now Family Guy...and Malcolm in the Middle is still doing good...(from what i can tell, anyway)...and that new show, the war at home...pretty much took AD's spot...so they put em on Friday night...which...doesnt make any sense, since alot of people..ya know...go out on friday nights...

i really liked that Killer Instinct show on Fox...anybody know if its done, or coming back?

I watched the Arrested Development merry christmas-thon on G4 yesterday. It made my day!

When the show was on Fox I missed so many episodes because I lost track of its airtime. I'm seriously considering buying all three seasons on DVD.

George Michael rocks. His low self esteem really makes me feel secure about myself. :)

Bumping this back up, one of my favorite shows of all time!
I have all the dvd's and I've been through them a few times since the show was cancelled. Still bitter about the cancellation years later. Such brilliant writing. So many great characters.

Michael Bluth: Maybe you should go up to the cabin for the weekend. And you could even... take a date along.

Lucille Bluth: Where would I find someone willing to go into THAT musty old claptrap!?!

Michael Bluth: ...Oh, right. The... cabin. That too.

_______
GOB: Yeah, but where did the lighter fluid come from!?!

_______
GOB: I hope you didn't come here looking for a handout Michael, because I'm the president now and I run a pretty tight ship.

Michael: What about the pool table?

GOB: It's a gaming ship.

All my girlfriend has to do is say "Maybe I should put it in her brownie" and I'll chuckle. LOVE this show.

THAT is a good one!

Gob: "Do you have something for... uh... me fast, want slow."
Chinese Shopkeeper: (yells over shoulder) "ONE DONG TEA!"
Gob: (pointing) "Hey, what's THAT?"
Chinese Shopkeeper: "That is sword of destiny. The sword of destiny is centuries old and has..."
Gob: "Never mind, I write my own patter- just wrap it up with the dong tea."

______
Buster: "Oh turtles! I just love their leathery, snappy little faces!"
Michael: (glances quickly at Lucille) "Well, you do have a type."

______
Michael: "Buster, what are you doing locked out on the balcony?"
Buster: "I thought I saw a graham cracker out there."
Michael: (to Lucille) "Are you baiting the balcony again?"
Lucille: (sips martini) "Prove it."

My mom (self-admittedly) wants to be Lucille Bluth. She definitely has the cruelty thing down.

Great quotes. I bought the first two seasons and have watched them too many times.
