Indeed it can. The army of the whole Northern Kingdom is marching against you, something in excess of about 10,000 soldiers... Those adventurers must have made the king pretty pissed off at Avatar!Bhakti wrote:Hmm... Now that I know this, I realize I have no idea of the size of the attacking army. Can this be known?Xar wrote:No, they're not Nephirthos's followers, the kingdom doesn't span the whole northBut they are those who drove Avatar out, and those who attack you.
Ok my dear brothers.
I think that is better to face one thing at time !
First the daemons, we must seal that damned reef, after done it, we can focus on the eating-god worm.
What do you think about it? Are you all agree with me ?
Amplarx, read my PM asap !

I have a plan. Legend says there is a being of Power living in the woods that surround Ai-Bhakti on nearly all sides. This being is said to be extremely dangerous, and does NOT like people walking among the trees. Perhaps we can strike a bargain, whereby he gives all of our forces safe passage. When the 10,000 of the enemy see us go in, and not get killed, they will think this being is dead. They will then follow us in, at which point the being commands the trees to decimate them.Xar wrote:Indeed it can. *sigh* No, that's stupid. It'll never work.

Good question. The new demon godling undoubtly has something to do with it, but he cannot do it alone, given that he just arose to divinity. It's very likely that one, or more of the deities who already were deities before his ascension is (or are) using his/her/their power to assist him. Now the question is - who?Murrin wrote:The divine power being used to hold the rift - is this due entirely to this new demon godling, or is one of our own number responsible?
Bhakti, don't give up - be creative, off the top of my head I would see at least two ways to solve the problem, possibly without any bloodshed...

Nephirthos would be an obvious choice, but I suspect that the Mad Queen may also have something to do with this.
Therefore I put forth all my power to seal this rift. Those of our number who can spare the power I invite to join me in this endeavour.

Those who are as nothing shall be raised above all others.
just a quick over view of the situation:
Priority 1:we have a demon horde, of uncontrolabale size marauding through the lands. they have chosen a leader Morgath.
Problems: close rift, stop demon horde. to stop the horde either requires strength of arms or tact.
course(s) of action: between us we must find out who is helping the rift to stay open and why and then get them to decease.what do the demons want? can they be appeased? or must we fight?
priority 2: Strange creatures from an outer Plane open a rift in the strained fabric of reality and pour into the world, hellbent on conquering and destroying.
problems:we know little or nothing about the creatures or the rift.
Courses of action: from the description it seems unlikely they will responed to peaceful overtures but we must discover if there has been any devine influence involved in their appearance. looking at the map, unless they can cover huge distances very shortly they wont be a problem immediately.
priority 3:The Northern Kingdom attacks the lands of Ai-Bhakti in retaliation due to the fact that most of Avatar's followers evacuated there.
Problems: besides the obvious ones for Bhakti and Avatar, it seems likely all their efforts will go into the defence of the city, so we will lose their devine influence in the other matters.
Courses of action:for the rest of us, what can be spared to go to their aid must be.
Extras:A monstrous, titanic creature so powerful as to devour gods and Planes, laying in one of the most remote Planes of Existence shakes from its slumber, but does not yet wake.
i would suggest all deities assisting in these endevours state thier position clearly so we all know who' doing what. also if you are attanding to other more urgent(?) business then to say so aswell.
finally, what about sending a delegation to the demons? they must want something and they have appointed a leader so is it worth a try?

It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.
I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Some of my followers have decided to send a delegation to these creatures, in an attempt to pacify them. i will throw my devine might behined this course of action in the hope of preventing a cataclysmic war.
i wish to appeal to the demon god to make known what can be done to appease him and his worshipers.
many of my other, more hardy followers, are waiting in readiness should this peaceful action fail.
are there any among us, as yet uncommited, that can use their devine influence to discover which one of us is holding the rift open?

But of course, dearest! Ma Nature and I have an agreement that I will withhold NONE of her gifts from my brethren or their followers - that is not the way of Nature. However, anyone who blatantly causes harm to the planet, or goes against Nature, will be dealt with swiftly and (more often than not ) PAINFULLY, to remind them not to f*ck with She who created the land!Murrin wrote:Elauradaneth, I require some aid. I am currently making efforts to end the disastrous activity around the site my follower has destroyed, however I feel my own healing may not be enough. If you would agree to use your powers over nature to help make this area safe to enter once more, you would have my gratitude.
What manner of planetary stabilization do you require, dear?

Would you like me to box their proverbial ear, darling? I can send out the forest animals and the birds to spy for me. Once I locate the source, I won't need to expend much energy to ask a mountain for a well-timed avalanche...And I DO like quicksand. It is such an underrated form of death. Maybe I can throw a few on the path as they run from the avalanche!Bhakti wrote:AND WHO IS EXPENDING SUCH EFFORT TO KEEP THE RIFT OPEN!!!! Someone is severely testing the limits of my ability to Love all things!!!
Shall I create a few pits of fire as well? That should solve the problem, and the screams of the dying demon hordes and false worshipers will elicit screams of triumph from our loyal peoples.
Mm, I like a bit of natural attrition.

Unfortunately, some of my volcanic methods have backfired and are causing more problems in trying to seal the rift. I'm gonna have to build up a dike around the rift so the lava doesn't wreak havoc on the countryside, then dump an unseasonal and swift rain upon the lava pouring into the rift to cool it quickly.
In the meantime, dear brothers, try and keep your little guys out of the area to avoid any nasty burns. I suggest you stick to the perimeter with your armies, use the forests to the north-west and south-east of the rift for cover (use ambush/hit&run tactics) and goad the demons by waving the heads of their dead on pink pigpoles.
Oh, and Bhakti dear? You DO know that little forest being is a dear friend of mine? And of course the trees will be happy to assist, much in the manner of the Huorns of Middle Earth did! (Connected little bitch, ain't I?)

Greetings my bretheren. It seems that although our attempts to seal the rift were not successful, neither were they fruitless either.
The Demon-God is weakened, and must yet face the forces of our combined might in combat against his followers, who do not number all that many.
Once again, I have implored those who can to strengthen the attack, and those who are not doing so to throw their might against the rift once more, to force it closed for all time.
It's diminishment means that we have an even better hope of suceeding this time, especially since the Demon-God must choose on which front to expend his effort.
In my own straits, I must perforce defend my followers and Ai-Bhakti as best I can, but if I can devise a way of sparing some influence from that task, I too shall once more attempt to seal the rift.
Once more into the breach dear friends.

Well, as you can see, the air burns and stars are falling from the sky. Perhaps you could try to do something about that, while I endeavor to fix those things I am more capable of affecting?Elfgirl wrote:What manner of planetary stabilization do you require, dear?
As for how I'm responding to the threats - a follower of mine (I have few to spare at the minute, I'm sure you can understand) is conducting studies into demonology and the realm these beings have come from, in order that we can understand them better.
My thanks, but I urge all to use their forces and power to other ends. There is no hope of defeating this army in battle. If we cannot win the day through other means, there is no point in losing any of your followers to the sword. Fight demons and close rifts. If we survive, we will join the rest of you next turn.Tazzman wrote:priority 3:The Northern Kingdom attacks the lands of Ai-Bhakti in retaliation due to the fact that most of Avatar's followers evacuated there.

I agree with Bhakti, and offer thanks also. But I do not request you save your power for your own ends. I request that you bring all possible might to bear on eradicating the demon threat.
Read their dogma. They do not seek peace. They may accept it now in weakness, but only to strengthen themselves further.
Even in our extremity, Bhakti and I will still spare some power for closing the rift between us, and others of our bretheren have promised their aid. Use your strength where it is most needed Ordine Naturale, or fight the stregthened demons again when victory might cost everything.

I fear this is a grave mistake. Appeasement is no answer to the demons horde. Grant them peace, and you grant them the time to grow strong. I implore you Ordine Naturale, recall your embassy and focus your strength on defeating the horde or closing the rift with the rest of us.Ordine Naturale wrote:Some of my followers have decided to send a delegation to these creatures, in an attempt to pacify them. i will throw my devine might behined this course of action in the hope of preventing a cataclysmic war.

[Out of character: Y'know, I'm going to let you in on something. If you'd responded 'okay' to the two gods question earlier, I was going to take control of the demons and make them settle down - in fact, attempt to impose an insular society that avoids aggression against the rest of you. And then take over the world. Erm, forget that last bit.]
