I am not a great Tintin fan, but I have read some of the albums. (The comics were released as albums in Norway.)

I like some of the other french / belgian stuff better though but I do not know what it is all called in english or if it has been translated at all, although it probably has.

I have been collecting a variety of comics since I was 12 years old. I must admit I’ve sold off whole collections in the past just to make a quick buck, but I’ve never intentionally thrown any of my books away. I stand at 3,000 books at present. Marvel, DC, Valiant, Image and so on. All bagged and backed safe in their boxes. The first comments by Fist and Faith point out the dramatic dark reality that some current books employ. I suppose I should mention my favorite comic character is Marvel’s Iron Man. I own every issue of each of the current three volumes. I have my hopes that Iron Man will join the stable of big budget comic based films from Marvel that seem to be off to a pretty good start. The Dardevil and Hulk films respectively seem to struggle a bit where X-Men, X2 and Spiderman excel with ease.

There's not much cooler than Iron Man's first meeting/fight with Doom!

And then there's the time the dragons went after the Mandarin to get their rings back. Mandie was great there!

And Iron Man taking out the Hulk, frying all his circuits in the process. Ant Man had to go inside the immobile armor to help.

LOTS of great IM stuff!! :)

By sheer luck I was handed an incredible comic collection a few years back. My uncle passed away and my aunt was left with the work of selling and giving away his stock of comics, sports and collectible cards, and othe such collectible items. She offered me the comics and a few select cards (glad I picked up a couple of Barry Bonds rookies :D ) besides the baseball/football and a few old Magic cards I got about 12,000 Marvel comics. I am now the proud owner of such great comics as Amazing Spider-man #1 and the Fantastic Four #5 ( the 1st Dr. Doom) With only a few minutes worth of collecting I have a near complete run of the Avengers, X-Men, The Hulk, Strange Tales, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Spider-Man (spectacular and amazing for those who know) and Thor not to mention a whole bunch of short run stuff. I've been slowly reading them trying to finish one series at a time. My favorite villian has to be the Juggernaut. Nothing better than the unstoppable force.

Juggernaut IS an amazing guy!! I've got so many of his fights. It's just great to see everybody slamming him, and him literally laughing. Though he didn't laugh when Shatterstar stuck his sword in Juggy's eye!!! YOWCH!!

But what an INCREDIBLE thing to inherit!!!! I'd go nuts with that collection!!!

Kinslaughterer, you are Mr. Lucky. I am envious to say the least. Bravo! There are a few legendary matchups in the Marvel universe that pit the unstoppable force against the imoveable object. My favorite of these has to be the Thing vs. the Hulk battles. Without fail I find myself pulling for the Thing to do well, but as any good comic fan knows the Hulk gets stronger as he gets angrier and the Thing ends up needing help or he tricks the Hulk somehow. Hulk vs. Juggernaut, The Abomination, Thor, The Silver Surfer, Galactus. Whoa. Scratch that last one. :-)

Is there a Sandman-topic somewhere? There are loads of stuff to discuss about Sandman... For example: has anyone found a consistency in the way he acts (at least in the first 1-2 books)? I think he has a "personal law" that he must follow, and that this is the reason he do so many, IMO, unpleasent things (like leavning Nada in Hell and being determined on killing Rose).

This thread should be in the Comics forum!
