There there, we will meet another time! :D
Could well be, if I'm going via Melbourne to NZ in October/November this year!!

PS, good interview. I'd have hired you for being able to summarise five books into one paragraph. Demonstrates economy of words. Good in advertising!

(had to bring this into here from "general")

Gap experts wanted...huh!

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA:

A protest outside the offices of ABC TV caused much consternation to executives of "The Einstein Factor" today. Strange people waving placards and chanting "Gap Sick Gap Sick" and "Lore Lore Lore", piled derision and scorn upon suits entering the ABC building this morning.

Spokesperson for the protest, Ms Elfgirl from Perth, stated, "They asked for a "Gap" series expert to adjudicate this program, then they said you needed a degree to apply. What kind of elitist codswallop is this? A piece of paper stamped by a college dean is no guarantee of ability! Give us TRUE experience with the Donaldson books over some half-baked old fart in a tweed jacket! Lore knows MORE! Lore knows MORE!"

There were no arrests, but suspicious brown cigar-like objects were found on the bonnet of the executive producer's Mercedes.

You have my support, too, LM. I'm also hoping ABC calls you back, but I understand the reality of the situation. But it's not about reality, it's about people's perceptions. (shakes head)

 Too bad there isn't a local ABC station here, or I might've joined in the picketing. We could make this a global protest, create an international incident, that sort of thing. Go get 'em, Elfgirl!

And, hey, Wayfriend's KWU idea could actually work. Come on, Jay, we know you're good at fooling people. You could talk the pants off ABC. ;)

Heh. Elfy had a gasbag to Lore, and Lore had a chinwag to Elfy.

Bad luck about everything Lore. Hopefully they will call you back.

I'll still watch the show!

Wayfriend wrote:SUPPOSE Kevin's Watch University were to grant Loremaster a PhD of Science Fiction and Fantasy. We could type it up, put it in a frame -- anyone calls to check, Jay would give them an earful about LM graduating KWU with the highest honors, best acedemic record in recent memory. And the Watch has lots of evidence of LM "lecturing" on variety of "topics", we'll send you the transcripts.

Lame-o's.
One slight problem...
being in the GAP theme, shouldn't the the university be more like
Billingate U.? or even UMCP-U.?
Could even be a specialty type degree: Orion's (Out)Reach Program.

O.K., I'll quite now.
Have you hugged your arghule today?

Steve sent his regrets. He wasn't aware that their requirements included a specific academic background - he posted the message pretty much verbatim from the email he received from them.

I hope they change their minds! I'm sure there's some way they could make it work. Hey - it's TV! They have degrees themselves in spinning stories to their own benefit.
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Hi. My name is Stephen R. Donaldson. Some of you may know me as the author of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - the Unbeliever. Have you lost your puissance? Do you and Kevin's Watch bear less of a resemblance than you used to? Has the One Tree died of root disease? Well, I have some good news for you!...
