I've been married twice and used white gold each time. Don't know if there is any influence by SRD. Just wanted gold and prefered the silver look.

We have white gold rings. I hate to admit it, but when my husband and I were shopping for rings, I said something to him like, "Is white gold all right with you? It's wild magic, you know." He gave me a strange (understandably!) look and said, "Sure."

Seriously, I like it because it's not the typical yellow-gold ring. But yeah, SRD definitely influenced my desire for it in my own ring.

My name is Chassit, and I am a fantasy geek.

After lurking for several years, I finally registered just so I could post to this thread.

Yes, I too insisted on white gold wedding bands 20 years ago. And the marriage did end years later in Divorce, with my "Joan" leaving me.

I threw my ring in the river.

Aww. :( That's sad. Was her name really Joan, or was that the reason for the quotes?

Well... over 12 years for us so far. *crosses fingers*

Wow, what started out as a "I wonder if other people think the same?" turned into a 3 page discussion!

Thanks all for the input!

I just sort of started dating a girl (dont want to tempt fate!) and will try to impress TCTC to her, and hopefull who knows......!

Good luck. I've never been able to get any of my friends to touch fantasy of any kind, with one exception: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. One person. That's it. Pretty sad.

But none of my friends are into fantasy. They all think I'm a bit odd.

Hey...George Martin doesn't write on Sunday during football season. Why am I odd if I follow the Cubs and the White Sox and the Bulls and still like fantasy? Eh. People are weird.

Good luck impressing TC upon her!

I was introduced to TC by my dad about 2 years ago, and up till that point I always wondered why he had a white gold wedding ring (They're not that common round here), but now I know.

I think its pretty safe to say I'll have one if/when I choose to get married.

My first engagement ring was yellow gold, cause that's what I love. Yellow gold (in my opinion) sets of diamonds better.

If I am unfortunate enough to make the mistake of getting engaged (not to mention actually getting married) again, I'll probably stick with yellow. I'll just hope that someday there'd be a possibility of being a "Yellow Gold Wielder"

13 months. I was married 13 years....if this shit keeps happening, 13's gonna start being considered an unlucky number.

My husband and I chose yellow gold when we were married twelve years ago, but last year I bought a new white gold set. I bought the rings before I ever heard of or read the chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Actually, I've always preferred white gold. It looks better against my skin tone. [/quote]
