Waynhim as androids

Post by egomzez »

In the last few months I read all 7 books available. I had begun reading Lord Fouls Bane back in Middle school in early 80's, but it was far too much then for my youthful mind. Now in my 30's these books are fantastic. I regret I must wait to read the final books. Argh!

I really like that the waynhim have this sci fi aspect to them. Like androids. Beings created not born. Beings who strive to serve the land and aspire to make purpose of their existence. I love that in the first trilogy you only get a taste of the waynhim. It's not until the later books that one truly understands the complete desecration that is the murder of the waynhim in the traveler's resting place by the raver.

But is it that the waynhim are just urviles with concious? Or is the waynhim and urviles different beings with different physcial form?

What is the difference between a cavewight, urvile and waynhim? Are they not all demondim-spawn? The same physcial form, excepting color differences?

Waynhim

As I recall it, Waynhim were a different color than ur-viles and also smaller.

Ur-viles and Waynhim are demondim-spawn - they are not Lawful.

Cavewights, on the other hand, are natuarel. They were not made by Lore.

Both Ur-viles and Waynhim hate that they are not natuarel and while the Waynhim strive to serve people through waymeets to rectify this, Ur-viles simply hate who they are.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.

And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Yes, and Cavewights have no lore of their own either. They are also much less intelligent than the Demondim-spawn. Cavewights are simple-minded creatures who became the main "fodder" of Lord Foul's armies.

And dont they try to create a perfect version of themselves because they hate what they are like now?

My Waynhim Roots

Post by DukkhaWaynhim »

Here is one thing I was never clear on. Mount Thunder housed the Vile spawning dens, and I believe both the ur-viles and the waynhim are creations of the Viles... so does that mean that all uv-viles and waynhim were literally born in Mount Thunder?
Or is this only the original place where they were created? Are there now separate breeding dens elsewhere? In other words.... where was I made?

I...actually don't think the answers to your questions on your origination are open to you. IIRC they never really clear up exactly what happened with the viles, they simply say that Loric battled with them, somehow.
Spoiler
And of course now they're back, so far with no explanation as to why, when they were supposed to be gone. (Look I'm one of the cool kids!)
So while you're questions are provoking, I don't think we can use the current info we have to answer them. Did the Viles live only in Kiril Threndor? Certainly the great mountain seems fit for them to inhabit, being the source of some of the best and worst things in The Land. The cavewights have been pretty much evil to the core, but the fire lions AKA magma that issues from it has been at the aid only of Berek and Covenant far as I know. Lord Foul took up residence in it, and there's that whole thing with Findail and Vain at the end of the 2nd chronicles. The waynhim have always seemed to be the good aspect of the Viles' creation,
Spoiler
and the ur-viles have changed recently but were evil beforehand
Far as I see it the best representation of the Waynhim and Ur-Viles, as veritable reflections of one another, is the Mountain and you might proudly consider it your spiritual birthplace even if you weren't made there.

The ur-Viles creation projects were ongoing, and they were in Mount Thunder's breeding dens. They also continued producing more of their own kind in those dens, and Waynhim as by-products.
...Or at least that's how it was explained in the first Chrons.

So Loremaster and I could be from the same manufacturing run? Loremaster, dude, we're batch-mates!
