piercings i'm not down with except for earings. for myself that is.
i live in the piercing capitol of the freakin universe.
but for myself, no.
tattoos now...different thang altogether.
marking things. moments. insights. memorials to life. allowing life to mark you.
i tell you, i watch Miami Ink. yes i do.
cause i like to hear the stories of the peoples tattoos. why they are getting them. what they mean to them. (lotta koi fish tattoos in miami)
i have a small one. they're kind of addictive.
and of course...my favorite Bradbury, The Illustrated Man.
(eek. rod steiger still gives me the willies in that movie!)

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

As most of you know, I'm tattooed with the same stylised Eye of Horus as is in my Edgetar. Not pierced though except for three small silver hoops in my left ear, and not really planning on any.

Got up early this morning to come in and start making my first samples for project work using the HiTUS plasma sputtering apparatus, and after the first one gets done successfully and the second one is half complete, we get a fragment of sputtered material on the target and have to vent the chamber to remove it; only, there's no Nitrogen left in the tank, so we have to call out for a technician to bring in a new one, then work out how to get the machine to continue venting, remove the fragment, and pump the chamber again, which will take a couple of hours.
So, I was in at 9am, out by 11, and now I have to wait around while the the chamber is evacuated so we can start work on the third sample.

I have a singlr tattoo on my right shoulder...it a bird that also looks like an eye. I have two piercings on my left ear that no longer sport earrings...though I think they haven't grown shut. My domestic supervisor has suggested strongly that i not wear the earrings.

They don't let you change the cylinders yourself? Ack! I'd be screwed all the time if I had to wait for someone to change out gases for me. Well, in an hour and a half I'm going in to get my wisdom teeth pulled out.
They gave me some pre-surgery valium. I've never taken this sorta thing. I feel kinda funny. I'm supposed to take one more in about 15 minutes. I'm not sure if I want to. I don't like feeling funny.
After that, it's to the doc's and they'll pull out four of my teeth. Yay!
I suppose the valium is making me less nervous that I would normally be, but I'm not freaked out about the surgery. I'm freaked about what I have to do after that... gauze and stuff and blood and blah. I'm not excited about that. Maybe they can give me valium for that, too.
I don't think this post was as coherent as it could have been. I blame the "happy" drugs.
Anyway, wish me luck?
