I think it's cool. Granted, I usually only click on the 'new posts' icon, so I'd only see it if I wanted to.

Noticed one small bug, though. It doesn't translate the BB code (look at 'The Official SRD Site...' sticky). Considering I start a lot of threads with hyperlinked text...

Yeah, I know. Actually, the code does allow to translate the bbcode, but when I turned it on, it would also add images. Which looked kinda weird if the images were large. I'll play around with it some more.-jay

The thing that bugs me is the preview block things out. Not important things, but still...

I noticed it only works for me on the normal color scheme, but doesn't work on the new brown scheme.

Either way, I can take it or leave it, I usually click on the new posts icon.

I'm undecided. If it previewed the last post in a thread, rather than the first (which will always be the same), then I could see it being more useful (for me, anyway). In other words, I'd get some clue as to whether it's a friendly post or a hostile one.

I agree with MM and Syl, having the last post display makes more sense to me.

Call me old school, but it's really not that much of a chore to just click on the freakin' thread.....

But then again, I actually log in every time I visit, and I've never used the "mark new posts" or whatever tabs either.

Now to go churn some butter.....

hmmm. i can take it or leave it too. i like MM's idea of seeing the last poster but i also like seeing the first post of any given 480 page thread too.

take that as an undecided. (i didn't vote cause i'm undecided)

Agreed (except on the churning :P ). If I want to read the first post, last post or any other post, I'll click on the relevant page with or without a preview.

^Maybe I do! Actually ... I do.

Looking at the HTML and the CSS code I'm getting, I don't even anything that even activates a javascript. I've coded many a onmouseover in my day, and I cannot see where it's supposed to be.

Ah ... you silly. You didn't put it in "View Posts Since Last Visit"!!! Like I got time to look in every frickin forum ...

Now that I see it, I think it is coolish. If it was wider, less tall, smaller font, and more post-it yellowish, it'd be coolness. [edit to add]And if it was in "View Posts Since Last Visit" I'd even use it.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.

Criticize, criticize, criticize.

What is this, SRD's Gradual Interview???

:P ;)

Anyway, yeah, I know there are problems and I know it isn't perfect.

And it isn't programmed into any of those other things (Last Post, Posts Since Last Visit) because the stupid mod wasn't built for that, heh.

But I could probably figure out how to do those other things, assuming you all give me some friggen time. :P

Or, what I may up just doing is just scrapping the whole thing. But I was mainly curious to see if it would work, and see what people think.

So yeah, I'll either edit it to make it less annoying, or I'll just put it out of its misery. But humor me for another day. And comments are always appreciated (even though I joked about it, I'm serious), so feel free to lay them on me. I only want to add mods that people think are cool and handy, not pointless and annoying. You all have to use this thing, so feedback is good. Or else who knows what I will edit, heh.-jay

 I abstain from voting because I don't really care.

I only click on the "Latest Post" button for most threads, or the relevant page, so I too only see it when I want to. But if you keep it, please not yellow.

I was thinking more of a similar colour to the board...blue or grey or something.

I agree with Avatar that it might be more useful (to me at least) to peek at the last post than the first. But that's someone who is keeping up; someone new to the watch would probably prefer seeing the first post.

It might be nice to delay the popup until you hover over it for about 1 sec. That's sort of what tooltips do. But that's insanely complicated, involving threading, etc.

I am sending you criticism because I think you need it. So tough cookies. I don't want to here any crap about you don't like criticism. Don't be a "Donaldson".

The coding for the shop was idiosyncratic and buggy as hell--so much so that no one ever bothered to update it to match more recent versions of the board. So I don't think you'll be seeing it back, Queg.
