Do be careful what you wish for, dear! ;)

I had a pretty good day today. However, I got blindsided by my two-year performance review (it isn't due until next month). Luckily, my boss wanted to go through it together, and make decisions based upon both of our feelings of my performance. She has the authority to just make arbitrary decisions regarding things like this, so I was happy to have input. Plus, where I work there is a real reluctance to give out the "excellent" rating (we have something like 12 areas we are rated in), along with an expectation that there will be at least a few areas you should be working in. Honestly, I wasnt' sure what to expect, but my boss gave me 2 excellents (about as many as she can get away with), and two goods (needing improvement, and we both agreed that I need to grow in these areas). All the rest she rated as very good. Basically, that is about the best rating anyone can realistcally hope to get. So I am happy, and relieved to have that out of the way for another year. . .

It's 3am... I have so much homework to do tomorrow... techincally today, if you're picky about that sort of thing. I just wrote a very stream of conciousness analysis of a sentence from 1984 that I am elaborating on way, way too much and reading things into it that don't exist. My teacher will like it though, I think. It's more along the lines of what he's been trying to get us to do than anything else I've written lately.

I had a very hard (but good... very good) practice today.

I've had tonsilitis for 2 months... am getting them and some a-something glands removed on the 13th of Nov. Did you know that the operation, being a simultaneous tonsilectomy and a-something-ectomy, they call it a T&A operation. Seriously. Without cracking the slightest smile. I had an obligatory giggle at that... and then some.

I spent today in class, asleep, at practice, eating, working, working, hanging out with some very cool people that I just met in my dorm, working, working, here.

Despite having a mini-crisis the other day about how I have lots of friends here, but none that I am particularly close to, I've recently met/gotten to know some people that have convinced me that I'm not totally and utterly without people that care about me here.

I need to get some sleep so I can function in class tomorrow but oh man, I have so much work to do...

Summary: I am tired, sick, and overwhelmed... but for some reason, I still love it here.

Feel great today--a first in a while. Registered for all my classes for Spring 2007. Six English classes and one history. 19 hours credit in all. That can be a heavy load, but I am an academic trooper (and most of the classes are English).

Ironically, the history class interests me the most; just a broad overview of World War II, but hey, I like war-centric history. Plus, the professor also told me that WWII was why he got into history in the first place.

I really regret not taking his other WWII class, which focused just on Germany (that woulda been a juicy burger). Ah well, not entirely my fault, as there was a schedule conflict with a required class.

Heh. Maybe I'm just really unpopular, but I'm convinced that the only real friends/the ones that care are a small group at best--an "inner circle," so to speak.

Heck--sometimes the "circle" is just a "dot" cause there's only one other person besides yourself who's truly concerned for you. And even if you have no real friends aside from stuffed animals (which are actually very companionable, if you give them voices), then you can take comfort in knowing...um...never mind. You're screwed if no one likes you.

Wait--I remembered! Yeah. Even if you're all alone on all fronts, just find something you really love. It can be video games or self-inflicted wounds. Or both! Something that makes you you, and then you'll be complete.

I feel completely burned out of Sudoku. I'm done, throwing in the towel. For at least one day. Maybe two.

I dunno...

I also feel rather restless. The weekend can't get here soon enough. PARTY time on saturday!! (In costume... rawr.)

Get your flu shots this year, folks!

I feel hungry. I made a huge pot of chicken soup and it's inedible, so I also feel like a dope. A hungry dope, that's me.

Off the store, I guess.

I'm not - I just had a huge breakfast in Picton, while I'm waiting for me ferry trip to Wellington!

Hey sarge! You'll be happy to know that I went to the local aquarium here and said hello to the resident octopus! He was very active, and I think he really liked the little red light on my camera...so did the puffer fish. The seahorses just had babies as well. As sooon as I get a chance to download pics, I'll post links!

Hey Lore..didja score?

I'm not either. Made some makeshift tacos with some leftover cooked ground beef, leftover salad and the remains of a bottle of caesar salad dressing with a little hot sauce added.

I had a good day. I've been working on upgrading my website that has the Elohimfest pictures, among other things, a couple of weeks ago I had to ask Danlo for some clarification of our trip to "Andelain" back then. It's not ready yet. I found some pictures from Y2K, the last time I dressed in a tux, that I want to get on put on disc so I can put a few of those pictures on.

The history class sounds interesting, Foul. My favorite history class though was a diplomatic history of europe from the Congress of Vienna to the Treaty of Versailles. Most people would think it dry, but I thought it interesting.

Did you pass through Christchurch at all?

Since I managed to get here, I'd better say how I feel.

I'm nervous that my computer won't keep going until I can find a new one. It overheats unless I keep 2 fans trained on it.

And how am I going to copy all my files to CD if it's planning to die in the middle of copying?  :o
