A couple of things to add:
I think Syler
Regarding the symbol. .
By the way. .
Very, very interesting! And Hiro is my favorite too. . . he just so earnest. And cute/sweet.
I think Syler
Spoiler
is Claire's dad. Obviously Syler is going around collecting the abilities of those he is killing by eating (sucking out?) the brains of the people. I don't believe that Eden is Syler because if she were, she would not be reporting to Claire's dad. I also think that Syler is collecting abilites so that he can use them against Claire.
Spoiler
it was painted on Nikki's arm on the missing painting (in the gallery). . Peter is uncovering it at the end of the episode.
Spoiler
has anyone else wondered if there is something up with Nikki's little boy? I mean, if both of his parents are special, doesn't it stand to reason that he would be too? And remember how he told his father that Nikki had a secret too? How would he know about that?

Spoiler
I'm interested to see how he turns into Future Hiro. . . man of Sword, Action, and Spitz.

I rewatched Ep 2 with Hiro in the future. When he was visiting the painters place there were dozens of painting with that symbol on it.
Did anyone notice in Ep 1, there is the scene with the painters hand chopped off when he had eailer hand cuffed himself to a pole or something, then when he OD'd he apparently chopped it off (a camera view of a severed hand). Then the next ep he has his hand back.

And ya, Niki isn't dead...better not be!

Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.

Well we didn't know Eden was working with Dr Bennet when I made that guess about Eden being Syler. Don't really think Dr. Bennet is Syler though, Syler's gonna go after Claire, and I think Dr. Bennet truly loves his little girl. And yea, Micah (Nikki and DL's kid) is gonna start manifesting soon, I'm sure of it. Claire was actually looking to get confirmation that her BioParents were special too.
Whoa...totally missed that one.Kil Tyme wrote: Did anyone notice in Ep 1, there is the scene with the painters hand chopped off when he had eailer hand cuffed himself to a pole or something, then when he OD'd he apparently chopped it off (a camera view of a severed hand). Yeah, I wonder how Micah's powers will manifest. He is obviously smarter than your average kid, and considering his parents abilities, God knows what he's capable of.sindatur wrote:Aelyria Mireiswen wrote:A couple of things to add:

I'll say this... the show was good last night, though it had all the classic earmarks of a "set up" show for the February sweeps finale.
I liked that we humanized the horned-rimmed bespectacled daddy of Claire; the fact that Sylar is ruthlessly murdering "special" folks...though why he didn't murder Hiro, who is obviously more powerful than the waitress, is beyond me.
We saw the hand and watch of Sylar. Anyone recognize it?

No on the hand thing, but now we know it's a white dude. I was thinking it might have been the black dude who is able to shield himself from the telepathy dude. (I guess I need to learn some names.)
Yes, an excellent ep! I like niki but her storylines the last couple of weeks and her power (more like split personality) were getting boring to me. I liked at the end how they panned beyond Hiro's bud to show the pic of Hiro and the brainy waitress, who I assume he was successful in saving! And yes, Grandpa glasses dude was much more humanized; makes me wonder about him now. Still a bad fellow, but now we have a better idea his motive perhaps.

I'm not sure if this has already been determined, but Sylar is killing the "specials" and eating their brains to absorb their powers, right?
Anyway, I'm not sure why Sylar is selectively murdering the freaks. He also left Matt, the mind-reader, alive. Even though Matt was wielding a gun, Sylar seemed like he could kick some serious ass. Seemed odd at the time that he take on Matt.
Maybe he isn't strong enough to take on certain powers? Perhaps his ultimate plan calls for a specific order of killing and absorption? Perhaps he simply isn't able to overpower specific individuals.
As far as the watch, it looked like the time was stopped just before 12:00. I'm not sure, but didn't Hiro look at his watch when he was in NYC? Possibly before the nuclear explosion. Can't remember the time on his watch though.
OH and what's up with the scars/marks on the necks of Matt and Radiation Man?? Radiation man noticed his powers and mark after passing out prior to seeing the Haitian dude. Matt also passed out after seeing the Haitian. What did the Haitian do to them? How are they being used by the Haitian and Bennet?

I was wondering that myself. . . are they tally marks, or the number 11? Personally, I think that someone has been working to exploit and accelerate potentials--people who have the potential to become more than normal humans. As we saw, Mr. Bennet is obviously able to track the specials in some way (prehaps using the program that Mohinder's father wrote?). It stands to reason that if Bennett can track them, so can others. And there is nothing saying that the Haitan doesn't work with Bennett anyway. We know that Bennett is in the business of dealing with the specials. . . he could be in that business for the purpose of studying them in order to replicate them--especially as weapons for our government. Stranger things have happened in real life (i.e. Hitler had teams of men studying the occult and doing "workings" in order to infuence the outcome of the war).Tulizar wrote: OH and what's up with the scars/marks on the necks of Matt and Radiation Man?? One possible reason I can think that Syler did not take Matt and Radiation Man is because they were both accelerated. . . neither one developed powers on his own (like the others we have seen so far--with the possible exception of Memory Girl/Waitress). Both admit to being normal until they blacked out.
What interests me is the talk of Mohinder's sister that died. . . and the boy who dreams. How will that play into things?
Also, what will Hiro do (has he been doing) for the seven months he jumped into the past? That time may have been well-spent for him.

Lots to chew on in this episode!

I like the idea of accelerating potential powers. This makes sense. Sylar could be aiding the people who haven't been able to discover their powers on their own. Sort of nurturing them for his own purposes.Aelyria Mireiswen wrote:I was wondering that myself. . . are they tally marks, or the number 11? I'm pretty sure the Haitian is working with Bennett. In one episode Bennett instructed the Haitian to erase the mind of the quarterback who attacked his indestructable daughter.
Mohinder's sister was "special" according to his mother. Is it possible that the little boy/guide in Mohinder's dreams is actually his sister? I assumed it was a boy, but he could certainly pass for a young girl. Also--this might be obvious---I think the sister's special power is why Mohinder's father spent the past twenty odd years researching the super-power gene.

Yes, I thought about this as well. However, would his father have kept only a small file regarding his own daughter? That file seemed very slim to me. I think that the child is a key to discovering something important. But we will see.Tulizar wrote: Mohinder's sister was "special" according to his mother. I had a disturbing thought about Sylar's possible identity.
Spoiler
Could it be Peter Petrelli? Look again at the homecoming picture. I assumed that the man (Sylar) was standing on the ground and the shadow was being cast from there. . . but look closer. The fingers aren't elongated as they ought to be if the light was coming from this angle. What if Sylar is a flyer. . . our flyer, Peter? We've seen how he can escape from pursuit.

Wow! Great eye. You're right, the shadow could be flying, and we know Sylar can fly. I can't wait to see what happens Monday.Aelyria Mireiswen wrote:I had a disturbing thought about Sylar's possible identity.
I'm not sure that I believe it. . . just thought about it. I read an article that said we would know Sylar's identity by December 4th. Can't wait for that. . .Spoiler

Sylar's watch still bugs me. Why did the camera spend so much time on his watch last week? Have we seen either of the Petrelli boys (the only flyers so far) with the same watch? If so, perhaps your hunch is right.

Well, I think I said the wrong brother's name in the previous post. I meant to say Nathan.
As far as we know, Peter can only partly mimic other's powers--when he has been in close proximity of them. And Peter can only hover, not really fly.
What can we deduce about Sylar from the watch?
1)He is not Mohinder (wrong race).
2) He is not Hiro (wrong race).
3) He is not Nikki's fugitive husband (wrong race).
4) Sylar is not a woman (arm is too masculine).
5)??????
Any more conclusions?

Spoiler
Christopher Eccelston is joining the cast as someone with powers, and he only wanted one year of Dr. Who, because he doesn't like to be tied down, so, if Sylar is a single season villain...

I liked last night's episode a lot. I did, however see it coming that Peter was not going to die after coming into contact with Claire.
The one big deal that was revealed was that the short-haired brunette (Eden McCain) is playing three sides of a dangerous triangle by working for Claires Dad (who may be an unwitting pawn), "helping" and romancing Mohinder, and obviously for whomever is ultimately controlling Sylar and perhaps Claire's Dad.
It's Dr. Doom. Gotta be.

I wasn't able to watch last night, so I recorded it. Yes, this most definitely has been expected to be in the cards for quite some time now, matter of fact, lots of folks believe this is why the cheerleader needed to be saved, was because she gave Peter the ability heal (although, I have a suspicion it turns out Claire wasn't the cheerleader that needed to be saved). The real surprise to Peter getting healed by Claire's prescence is wether or not he finally understands what his power is.A Gunslinger wrote:I liked last night's episode a lot. I think the reality is THIS! By saving the cheerleader, his arrest will cause his brother Nathamn to lose the upcoming election! Recall that Hiro saw that Nathan won the election in a landslide, just before the bomb goes off. Somehow, his victory set in motion a cataclysmic event! Save the cheerleader save the world, yes. But it is not a direct cause and effect!
Thoughts?

I wouldn't want to go any further until I watch the episode, since I don't know if it plays out the way I thnk it. Hopefully get to watch it tonight.
