Farscape

Post by Cole »

Spoiler
I did a search and couldn't find a thread about it sooo...
Man, this show rocked. What the hell happened to it? I've just finished downloading the first season using utorrent and can't wait to start watching it at the week-end. What's even more exciting is that now I'm using P2P I can finally see the mini-series and the last season!

Any other fans?

Yeah, I think there are a bunch of us on here.

What happened to Farscape? The SciFi Channel happened to Farscape, just like it happened to Stargate SG-1 earlier this year. Somewhere around the third or fourth season, TPTB decided nobody was watching anymore, so they canceled it. (Fourth season really did bite, though. The whole feel of the show changed, and the humor became more juvenile.)

[Edit: Found a thread that mentions what happened to Farscape (scroll to about the third post) - SciFi dumped it in favor of a bunch of crappy premiers that I don't think are even on anymore. kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3979&start=0 ]

Farscape was renewed after S3 for a S4 and S5. SciFi Channel came to find out that S5 was going to be too expensive, so they offered instead to buy a half season. The Producers refused the offer, and we were left with the S4 cliff hanger. After a major internet cmpaign, SciFi Channel decided to finance the MiniSeries (Why the Producers wouldn't do a half season=10 episodes, I don't know, it would've given them more than double the air time they got with the MiniSeries, but, at least they did finish the arc, although the Miniseries contains the events of a 20 episode season in 4 hours)

Hmmm...my forum searching skills need revision. I was surprised that I couldn't find anything. I think it's definately the most intelligently-made sci-fi series IN THE HISTORY OF TV!!

Well, actually Babylon 5 has a slight edge in my book, but, Farscape isn't far behind.
