Wesley Crusher was annoying because he represented an interference with my hero worship of the fully realized and matured Enterprise command crew, especially Picard. There is something very wrong with some snot nose kid figuring out the answer to a life threatening dilema that should have only been solved by someone that has years of Starfleet training and experience. I actually felt bad for Wil Wheaton that his character got such negative feedback from some of the fans.
That was always my problem with Crusher as well. He knew more about the warp drive than Geordi - what a crock!

"A scene with Wesley was filmed for Star Trek: Nemesis, most of which was cut from the movie. In the movie, several years after his departure with the Traveler, Wesley attends the wedding of Commander William T. Riker and Counselor Deanna Troi. Sitting at the head table, he is seen wearing a Starfleet dress uniform and rank insignia of a Lieutenant Junior Grade. In the scene that was cut, he states that he is part of the engineering staff of the USS Titan, indicating that he rejoins Starfleet at some point and either completes his time at the Academy or had been granted a field commission."
