Meh, to each their own. I find it too much of a logical stretch to assume that neither society nor technology progressed over the course of 10,000 years.

Color me cynical I suppose.

Giant's having Clingor...

Post by ScrapOSamadhi »

I don't think there is any contradition or oversight on SRD's part with the Sereach Giant's having Clingor and the Search Era Giant's not. Remember, the Unhomed wandered a LONG time to many lands (to the Elohim and land of the Sandgorgons, but doubtless others as well). They found/traded for clingor and brought it to the land. None of them made it back to Home, so it is not implausible the Search giant's didn't have it.

My two cents: :2c:

I agree with Cail that it is very implausible that technology didnt advance, Magic System notwithstanding, but then again:

-- It is part of the suspension of disbelief that we agree with in order to read the story; it is far easier for me to believe a race can go 10,000 years without inventing a cell phone that believing in the existence of a uber-dimensional Land peopled with Giants, Ur-Viles, Lords and Forrestals.

-- It is SRD's story, and he does need the Land to be that way in order to tell it.

-- How interesting would the chrons be if TC and Linden showed up and were run over by a ur-vile on the Mithil-Revelstone AutoBahn while nattering away on a cell phone and slurping a StarBucks's Aliantha-Mocha Latte Supreme.... :)

A: Er, what's a lightbulb?

Q: How many software developers does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: none. That's a hardware problem. :)
