"The Land" website

The Land (theland.antgear.com/) website appears to be offline.

I found the site archived on The Wayback Machine, though.

I have to admit I didn't go to it much, but it was a nice site. I know nothing about the person who maintained it, either.

Anyone know what happened to this site or why it went offllne?

No, it's not my site :) It was another one of those good SRD sites that were languishing in the free sites world with popup ads etc and I offered the guy a home is all - I detest popup ads :)

I found that site before I found this one. I never thought much of it because I thought the two were synonymous.

I may even have found this site because The land links to it.

Wow! That was one of the few other sites around when I had my own SRD page up (which I was able to keep relatively updated since I saw him every year at WFC). Cool!

It's hard to believe that we went so long with no consoidated information on SRD, and no organized fan base. Now with the Watch and over 1500 GI answers, it's difficult to remember those dark times. :-)
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

I seem to remember sending the owner of that website an email a few years back.

IIRC he was a military person who had been over in Afganistan for a while. I had written to ask about updates to the site. Hopefully, he is doing well and is OK. :?:

Afghanistan...I had no idea. Very much hope he's okay, too.

I'm among those who found the Watch via a link on his Land site.

Actually, I think his site still provides a better "at a glance" introduction to the Chronicles for newcomers than the Watch, since the Watch doesn't really have a dedicated page that gives an overall summary of what Covenant is all about.

I also found the Watch from his site. He spent a lot of time personally reviewing and analyzing the chrons, but of course, much less interaction than KW.

I actually wouldn't send a newcomer there for an introduction to the Chronicles cause he gives a complete synopsis of each book with way too many spoilers.

But I like the site. :)
