Hm... I found " Brokeback Mountain" heartbreaking on several levels. I liked it a lot but I found the inevitability of the (mostly) sorrowful ending was draining. I differ from several rewiwers on this thread on one point though, I found the slow pace refreshing. It gave the characters time to develop. The pauses enhanced the lines so that they sunk into my brain instead of just bouncing off into space. It was a nice change of pace from most films.
