I feel EARTHQUAKEY today! Yep! Had another jolt today! No worries everyone, it wasn't very big.

I'm hanging by a thread. I've done a week of night shifts(I'm only supposed to have three shifts a week) and I'm sooo tired. I've had no labourers with me all week so I've had to do everything by myself. I have to dig up a room of 30 foot by 30 foot and the concrete goes down for a good 4 feet. The electric keeps f'n up so I've had to replace the circuit board which took about 4 hours. I had to load a 5 ton truck BY MYSELF (ok, so the trucker blokes helped a bit). This has to be the worst job I've ever had.

But I'm still smiling. Walking home through the city at 5 in the morning is amazing. I've not seen a big city at that time before and the experience is unique. Putting your head down on the pillow is another great feeling after a hard nights work. It makes all the shit totally worth while.

I'm gonna get some pics of my work and my journey home and you'll all see. 8)
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

I feel like I should work on a history report, but I'd much rather play video games. The report's not due till April, but it'd help to get it out of the way, as there's at least two others I know of. Sighzorz!

I went to my first Hockey Game in years last night.
Good game too...it went into a five minute overtime, and Halifax scored with about a minute left.

It was a buddy of mine's stag party; so we were pretty intoxicated...went out to a pool hall later and we all completely embaraced ourselves, or at least we should have, most of the games were a good ten or fifteen minutes..

Although I had to drag myself off the couch were I was sleeping at about 8 in the morning cause Lisa works Saturdays..I'm feeling fine now, just a bit tired.

No...he doesn't...although either does his father...!!! 8O

But, Stonemaybe...nights are hard but YOU CAN DO THIS! It's not worth it...if you have one next minute you'll be back to where you started...SERIOUSLY! I know! You'll have one and then you'll think ..."oh one didn't really make much difference...this quitting thing is easy" and then you might have another one. Before you know it you'll be smokin' a pack a day again and thinking "I'll quit again soon". You've made the step so DON'T GO BACK! Think of all the money you've saved! Get online buddy, spend some time cruising the net looking for something you really want (which will distract you from the cravings) and then BUY IT to congratulate yourself for staying off them!

If you can't do that...got any jellybeans? Try chucking them up in the air and catching them in your mouth! You may look stupid, but it'll distract you.

Smokes suck! Bet you've been feeling a whole lot better without them! ...DON'T go back there! ...or I'll come around to your house and give you a good talkin' to!!! ;)

Thanks for the encouragement but here's the thing that's REALLY pissing me off today.....

My girlfriend is a nonsmoker and was obviously over the moon when I quit, even though I've always smoked for the four years and more we've been together.

I told her when I quit that it may not last - I've only tried once before and it only lasted 18 days.

Once a smoker always a smoker, even when you've quit.

Today we talked (!) about what happens if i started smoking again.

She's really annoyed that I may start to smoke again. I'm trying to tell her that however long I'm off the cigs should be seen as a bonus, but not one that should be taken for granted.

I'm now worried that if I start smoking again, our relationship will fall apart because I've TRIED to quit. And the longer I stay off them the worse the 'backlash' will be. I try to do something to help that actually harms our relationship.

It's all arsey-versey crap and I feel the longer I stay off the cigs the worse this quandry will get! :hithead:

I hear what you're saying. Tough situation to be in.

But here's the deal: quitting isn't as easy as that and a large majority of the people who do quit often go off then and on them over and over again...some eventually quit permanently, some don't (and you should hope that you're eventually in the former rather than the latter).

Smoking to me has always been something I rely on in stressful situations, in situations where I just need an excuse for a break, as an integral part of my social life (drink in one hand, smoke in the other). It goes on and on. It becomes such a hard habit to kick simply because you have to change yourself so completely.

That said, I reckon you should explain to your girlfriend *exactly* what you've said here--might be a hard thing to do (and she might get ticked off at you for saying it) but I think you should at least try. Because maybe then she'll see the situation she's unintentionally putting you in, and maybe she'll also realise that this pressure you're feeling from her (even if she's not doing it consciously) is actually stressing you out and making you *want* to smoke.

I know plenty of smokers who have taken years and years to give up. And as the Australian "quit packs" say here: even if you don't succeed the first time, every day you don't smoke is a good one...and hopefully you'll get back on the wagon.

To make you feel better, ok, I officially announce: I AM SMOKING AGAIN! <sigh> Tell you what, Stonemaybe, saying I'm p*ssed off with myself about getting back on them is an understatement. And I'm going to try again...and soon... But
1) I'm telling you to demonstrate that it is hard...but I'm also saying it because
2) If you can stay off them, stay off them mate. I felt brilliant when I was off them! ...and I'm ticked that I did all that hard work only to give up because my life got a little bit stressful and I said "I'll have one"...and then several weeks later I'm back smoking like I used to.

If you can hang in there then do. If you can't, don't beat yourself up about it, just remember you've done it once (so you can do it again!). Hopefully your gf will understand! Sending positive vibes your way!!!

Well, there are blizzard conditions out tonight, so it's a good night to kick back. I brought home a sushi dinner and brewed a pot of tea to go with it. It'd be a good night to watch a movie, unfortunately, there's nothing on that I want to watch. Oh well.

Yum! Sushi! Loooove sushi! :D

My back is playing up again...so I'm a little annoyed. I could probably deal with the back pain if I didn't have to deal with the shortness of breath associated with it! Bah!
