I love Halloween... All the bags of candy are really cheap :D Why go walk around for 2 hours begging when I could get 4892375934865 lbs of chocolate bars for 5 dollars? Heh Heh Heh...

Well, we are having a HUGE party here at the house. Going to decorate it like the Great Hall in Hogwarts. With jackolanterns hanging from the ceiling, and other such Potterish bru ha ha. All the kids are dressing up in Potter garb. Hubby is going to be Dumbledore and I'm going to be McConegal. Chelsea, our 3 yr old, is going to be Hedwig. Should be a blast :)
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

Wow that sounds like an awsome party Furl. I never went to Holloween parties till I was a teenager. I used to also go to this college town called Athens in Ga where everyone walked around barhopping in costumes(Syl went with me the last time I went) When I was a kid I used to go door to door in my grandmother's neighborhood cause her's was nicer and the more upper class suburbia has better candy!!! I always had my mom and my grandma with me tho so I never felt like it was dangerous at all. My fave is the Hershey Dark also!!!!

I never even heard of anyone playing pranks in my area but my brother and his friends went around in a truck wearing mask and yelling out the window with a mashedee(SP?) at the little kids trick or treating. He even scared the heck out of me and my grandma

Amazing! So there actually is a "trick" part!?! This Halloween-stuff is rather new in sweden (I strongly suspect it was brought here by clever shop-keepers who realised they could sell more stuff if there was one big weekend before X-mas. I really have no strong objections myself, every reason for a masquerade is a good reason... :D At least as long as I still can go to my family graves and solemnly put candles there).

Anyway, the kids here just walk around (rather badly dressed I think, not funny or really with some kind of work behind their costumes) and say the swedish translation of trick and treat. I have tried to say "well, I´ll have some trick then, please" and then they go angry leave... But if the trick-thing might be eggs thrown at my door, then I wont say that this year....

...going through old threads looking for recipes and stumbled upon this one...since Hallowe'en is nearly upon us I figured it was time to...

Image

I aways wait for Target to put their old time movie and t.v. show DVDs that they sell for a dollar on 75% off clearance, and I pick up 100 of them for $25.00. I then give each trick-or-treater a DVD for their treat.

Then, when Target puts their Hallowe'en candy on 90% off clearance a week after Hallowe'en, I stock up then.

Halloween's the biggest night of the year back in Derry, but not for kids!

It is one hell of a party, and you do NOT venture out of doors not in fancy-dress.
